Its a pay to play the game, with paid expansion(s) if the game does well.Free to play?
One BIG difference between Outriders & many other similar title is the developers have allowed influencers & game journalists to test play the game, which shows their transparency as well as confidence. In return, they got a lot of overwhelming praise from people who played the game.
They showed off the skill tree, the loots, the legendary items, & generally well-received.
The promised & shown by gameplay to the privileged people who got to playtest, that the game will be ready (minimal bugs, feature-complete, loot great) from release, instead of releasing a "Beta" & expect gamers to pay while they add features over time.
I’m still holding out hope this will be good. The combat looks top quality as does the game play. Still I’ll be waiting on some reviews to come out before making a decision. The big problem with these games is poor end game, Destiny1 & 2, Division 1 & 2, Anthem, all have terrible end game. Outriders has tied its end game to a ticking clock. When have timed activities ever been good and fun? It is all very well having good loot, but hiding it behind frustrating, unfun activities renders it moot.
Agreed, what would you consider good end game games? The big problem with these games is poor end game, Destiny1 & 2, Division 1 & 2, Anthem, all have terrible end game. Yes, games? For me a good end game is dynamic content that keeps you engaged and rewards you will meaningful gear/improvements while trying to avoid too much repetition.
I think you just stated the general goal for loot driven games. The problems arise from trying to come up with a system that satisfies so many different gamers. And don't forget about the gamers who can't seem to stop playing a looter while they continually complain about it, lol.For me a good end game is dynamic content that keeps you engaged and rewards you will meaningful gear/improvements while trying to avoid too much repetition.
It is multiple things. Quantity of content. Quality of content. Variety of content. A loot system that actually respects your time and rewards time spent. It amazes me none in the genre use procedural content.Agreed, what would you consider good end game games?

The Division 1 Underground was procedural, not sure if The Skyscraper end game mode for The Division 2 is procedural since I left the game before it released. But most of the procedurally generated games I played lack that touch by a human to make things unique and fresh. It is multiple things. Quantity of content. Quality of content. Variety of content. I look at what we know about the End Game ,and even ignoring the the timed aspect, it still seems lacking. Only 15 expeditions....unless they take 5 hours each they wont last long. Then it has the s***ty world tier system, which means everything up until the last tier is just wasted time, and that means alot of repeated content.
It seems like another looter shooter that will suffer alot of the big issues the others in the genre have.
It was, but in a limited way. It just amsazes me it isn't used alot more. The Division 1 Underground was procedural, not sure if The Skyscraper end game mode for The Division 2 is procedural since I left the game before it released. Depends on the purpose of the timed event. I think the "Timed event" in Outriders is similar to the Greater rift of Diablo 3. You can complete a rift if your characters/group has a balance between defense & offense & are capable of the contents. The big problem with these games is poor end game, Destiny1 & 2, Division 1 & 2, Anthem, all have terrible end game. And preventing that matters to anybody why? If people want to challenge themselves then they should be able to. Preventing that with a time mechanic is just dumb.Depends on the purpose of the timed event. I think the "Timed event" in Outriders is similar to the Greater rift of Diablo 3. This prevents slow grinding for contents you or your group is not ready (if there is no time limit) to skip a more linear & progressive gears progression.
