Official Thread Overwatch 2

Try the against AI & training modes to get used to the control before diving in maybe,.

I cannot get into game, error connect to server. Guess I play some fortnite instead

Any tips for a newcomer going in? Going to try it out over the weekend maybe tonight if it lets me in.

Pick a class you want to play (tank, support or DPS), choose the easiest heroes to get use to their abilities and controls and just play a lot of QuickPlay. When I first started off, I just chose the class I wanted to play and did a lot of QuickPlay to see which hero I liked most playing. I recommend soldier for DPS, mercy for support and Reinhardt for tank for beginners just because their abilities are easier to learn. You just need to learn how to play the type of hero you choose. Like tanks need to push forward, dps needs to do most DMG, support needs to be backline and heal/not die, play positioning.

I finally got a few games in before the queues exploded. I mean, it is Overwatch. There's nothing different about it other than 5 man teams with 1 less tank.

I think I'm aging out of these MP shooters. Most of the time I just play Valkyrie and heal everyone. Wins the game a lot but gets boring.

This is the same for me as OW1. I appreciate it, and it is fun as a good comp shooter. I could go learn all the heroes and get decent at it, but nothing about it pulls me in. It isn't that I don't like it, but something just doesn't make me want to play it.

I hear ya. All of that anguish over the servers and I finally get to play. After a few matches: "That's all they came up with for a sequel?"

The graphics don't even look that much different.

Their development was just baffling. They never should have stopped supporting it and should have gone F2P years ago if they needed to. Its so poorly planned for them to have to remove it from their PVE content after so long.

At the very least don't call it Overwatch 2.

The Battlepass is terrible compared to Fortnite. It needs to give you more gold currency than it costs so you can churn it without putting more money in i.e. like 1300-1400 gold currency back if you beat the whole pass since the BP costs 1000.

Although I am having fun again with the new heroes and gameplay. I have 900+ hours in competitive and it feels just like home again to play OW2 haha. Let's see if I can get back to my previous form.

Somehow queued with Fitzyhere OW streamer haha. Only my 3rd or 4th comp game this season but I guess my MMR is still quite high from before.

Many do not realised how good Fortnoite battlepass is unltil they play other game & see other Battlepass.

In Fortnite they literally throw candys at you every few hours, & less filler items no one care abut compare to others. Not to mention pay for itself & some more. After pyu unlock skins, often you can iunlock even more style and options.

- 3 Modes. 4K Resolution Targeting 60hz. Balance Mode Targeting 60hz. Frame Rate mode targeting 120hz.
- Resolution Mode: Dynamic with drops to 2880x2160p targeting 60hz. Best mode for 60hz displays
- Balance: 1440p/60. Not really useful as Resolution mode is pretty much locked 60hz during game play anyway
- The only difference here is that Res mode runs menus and character selection screen at 30 FPS, Balance mode runs those at 60 FPS as well
- Frame rate mode targets dynamic 1440p with drops to 1980x1440p to hit 120hz

- Series S retains all 3 modes. Res: Dynamic 1440p, Balanced: 1080p, 120hz: Dynamic 1080p
- Performance is rock solid regardless in each respective mode. Minor tearing in replays but it's relegated to top so even if you don't have VRR, it's hardly a bother.

- Switch dynamic 900p when docked and dynamic 720p when portable.
- Targets 30 FPS and can have some drops here and there, but mostly it's a robust 30 FPS.

Officially the most negatively reviewed game in Steam history. I hear the new storyline DLC is pretty barebones. Been playing the hell out of it lately. It being on Steam has kind of re-kindled my enjoyment of the game, and I have about 950+ hours overall clocked in over the years. My personal feeling is that it's still a good game, but a bad sequel. It'll take time to really build on what's there. Hopefully the storyline content continues to be developed, as that's something I've been waiting for a long time now. OW1 was really bare bones when it came to in-game storyline content. They didn't even have the comics or cinematic trailers available to access in-game, which I always felt was a mistake.

That said, it's still essentially the same Overwatch with some new modes, maps, and characters. Battlepass is basically same concept from the loot boxes, keep playing to unlock more stuff. I don't care either way if I'm being honest, but I feel like leveling up should yield some more in-game results. Considering the theme of the game is global defense, I always thought it'd be cool if they added a global defense sim of some kind. Battlepasses just come off as lazy and unimaginative at this point. The industry at large can do better.

Been playing the game, and I'll admit, I'm still having fun. Those new trials have been fun. Although I feel like it's something we should have gotten years ago.

I still play it from time to time , but just 5v5 mystery heroes because I can play the new heroes that way lol

Overwatch 2 Gives First Look At 2024 Heroes – Damage and Support Heroes

While all the attention at first was on Mauga, Game Director Aaron Keller gave us some insight into what kind of characters were going to get to play in the New Year.

Two of these heroes were displayed live at Blizzcon, and one of these is going to be a brand new DPS, while the other will be a Support hero.

But the Overwatch team isn’t stopping there. In fact, you can expect even more collaborations in 2024, and the first batch is already locked in.

“The collaborations that we'll be doing in the first half of the year, those are set. We're still working on some of the stuff for later in the year,” Aimee Dennett, Blizzard’s associate director of game product management, told me. “We can't share too much. We don't want to ruin the surprise. But we do have quite a few collaborations planned next year — more than this year — and are really excited for everyone to see those as well.”
