PAX Prime 2014: what to expect from the show
http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/pax-prime-2014-what-to-expect-from-the-show-1260252
PAX Prime 2014 PAX Prime dates are August 29 to September 1

1. PAX Panels
Leading the annual story time session this year is Mikey Neumann, Chief Creative Champion of Gearbox Software. Last year we heard from Peter Molyneux about his experience creating Godus after leaving an indie studio and a large studio to once again head another indie studio.
We'll hear about a similar tale, or origin story, from Neumann who along with being a writer, podcaster and all around jack-of-all trades, worked on Borderlands 2 and its DLC's.
Another notable panel includes "Women Surviving and Thriving in Games Media" where games journalists like Polygon Editor Megan Farokhmanesh, Nerdist host Jessica Chobot and others will detail their struggles and successes in the industry.
There seems to be a good mix of panels on bullying, gaming with a disability, gaming music and even one from Destructoid called "Video Games Are Stupid: The Inherent Silliness of the Medium."
2. Steam Machines
The last we heard from Alienware at E3 was to expect more during PAX. So here we are, with the gaming event almost upon us, ready and excited to see more Alpha.
Where's your brethren, Alpha?
We went to a pre-Gamescom event where the company showed off the Alienware exclusive UI, but didn't get to play with it just yet.
It wasn't entirely finished during our hands on either but it managed to remain an interesting box to look out for when it releases later this year.
Here's hoping we see a more finished version of the Alpha, and perhaps more Steam Machines to see how they're stacking up against Alienware, and even the Nvidia Shield Tablet - which can also stream Steam.

3. PC gaming
PAX is all about PC gaming, so along with PC specific panels, you can definitely expect a bunch of PC peripherals to come out of the show.
Last year, SteelSeries was on the floor with the SteelSeries H Wireless headsets made for the PS4. We're expecting to see a bunch more headsets with console compatibility this year too.
During PAX East, we went hands on with the MSI Ghost Pro laptop and were pretty impressed with this thin, beautiful beast of a machine.
Since that was pretty recent, we may not see anything from MSI but it's possible another powerful gaming laptop will rear its head and make us drool for 3K and 4K gaming.

4. Virtual reality
You wouldn't think VR and PCs would go together so well, but what else has the juice to make these fancy virtual reality headsets work? Not the consoles (yet).
So that means we'll definitely be seeing the Oculus Rift again, in full SDK 2 glory showing off the same games from E3 - and maybe a few new ones?
There's a chance Sony's Project Morpheus will pop up too, and you can bet on seeing various other VR wonders all over the show floor hoping to make it big in the growing industry.

5. Indie games galore
Of course, we can't forget about the lifeblood of PAX - the indie game. There will be plenty of indie games all over the convention center.

Nintendo packing big presence at PAX Prime this year
http://www.shacknews.com/article/85918/nintendo-packing-big-presence-at-pax-prime-this-year

For the past couple of years, Nintendo's presence at PAX Prime events has been meager at best, but it's looking to change that this time around with a large showcase at this year's Seattle-based one.

The company has confirmed a number of titles that will be playable at its booth this year, including Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2 and several others like Pokemon Art Academy and Azure Striker: Gunvolt for 3DS.

Those who don't want to stop by the booth to play Smash will have a second chance to do so with [HASHTAG]#SmashBash[/HASHTAG], a promotion that will tie in with Twitter. Users simply need to watch out for announcements from Nintendo in regards to where the game will be playable around Seattle.
In addition, a special Hyrule Warriors event will be open from 7 to 10 PM on Saturday, August 30th at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel. It's first come first serve, though those that cosplay as Link or other characters from the game will get in a lot quicker. Concept art will also be up for grabs to those wearing a special Hyrule shirt (which they can get at the event while supplies last) and taking a picture against a special backdrop, then posting said picture to Twitter.

Atari is rebooting “Alone in the Dark” and “Haunted House”

Atari is rebooting its famous horror games, Alone in the Dark and Haunted House. The company announced that re-imagined versions of the two classics will be released this autumn for the PC. More information and demos of these games will be revealed by Atari during PAX Prime.
According to its promotional website, the first game, “Alone in the Dark: Illumination” is being developed by a studio called Pure FPS. The original game was developed in 1992 by Infogrames and released for the PC. It was the first ever 3D survival horror game, acknowledged by Guinness World Records. The most recent addition to the series came out in 2008 on PC, Playstation 2 and 3, Xbox 360 and Wii.
The “Haunted House” reboot is being developed by the Italian studio Dreampainters, who also created “Anna”, a horror game released on the PC. Atari released the original “Haunted House” in 1982 for their Atari 2600 console. This game is known as one of the earliest examples of the survival horror genre. In 2010, the company released a sequel which kept the same name as the original game and which came out on PC, Wii and XBOX Live Arcade.

its starts Friday
no interest really?:-->:
Seems conferences are nothing but just major let downs every time IMO. No point in getting worked up. If something good does come out of it, then I'd rather be pleasantly surprised.

It Looks Like Volition Might Be Revealing the Next Saints Row At PAX

http://www.xboxachievements.com/new...-Be-Revealing-the-Next-Saints-Row-At-PAX.html

Saints Row studio Volition looks set to be revealing a new game during PAX Prime in Seattle this week, with a special panel planned for this Friday, August 29th. The developer's new project will be unveiled during the panel, which will be hosted by Natalie Lander, the voice of Saints Row's tech expert Kinzie.
The event will take place from 10am-11am PDT (1pm-2pm EDT/6pm-7pm BST) on Friday, with the first "exclusive gameplay, art, and details" to be revealed for Volition's upcoming project. Deep Silver Brand Director Aubrey Norris, Volition Creative Director Steve Jaros and Volition Producer Jim Boone will join Lander as panelists for the big reveal.
With Kinzie's voice actress hosting the panel this Friday, could it be that Volition is preparing to reveal a new Saints Row game? It seems entirely possible, especially since the studio's Red Faction IP was acquired by Nordic Games following THQ's demise. Saints Row 5 seems like a fair shout, but all will be revealed on August 29th.

There's a 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999% (ad infinitum) possibility that Fallout 4 won't be shown and since that's really the only game announcement I'm looking forward to I don't have much interest in this event.

I agree fallout 4 will not be here
BGS has announced most of their games via a press release
the exception was Skyrim
