Peggle 2: The Official Thread

Played a ton last night, it's a lot of fun. Already addicted to trying to complete challenges.

Very upset. No leaderboards?!? Not in single or multi. Game feels half baked. 5 characters with 10 courses each and dumb challenges. The game is half of what it should be and it's probably
Y because they're going to sell the other half as dlc.

So there is only the 5 characters and you cant choose who you want after beating all the levels like the first game? I thought the old characters were in this game as well as a few new ones?

Duel Competitive mode coming for free. I'm betting Leaderboards will come for free as well eventually.
Yeah I'd be very surprised if leaderboards don't come in an update and having them not be free would be unprecedented. Definitely won't happen.

I thought Peggle one was OK. What's the appeal of this sequel, seriously?

The orchestral music at the end? I'd rather play a Pinball game.

Hope you guys enjoy it if you do.

I guess I can see the skill in making a smart decision about where to let the ball go, but it seems like randomness and luck is mostly at play.

It's rather easy to clear most levels. Some take a few more times than others. As you progress they get harder. Where the challenge comes in is clearing all of the objectives. Some are damn near impossible. You have to use angles, the bonus balls, the Master's balls, in order to clear each board completely, score over the score limit and do the amount of trick shots for all of the additional level completion items. It's like Angry Birds. You can clear levels but can you complete them? There's challenge and thinking involved in Peggle 2.

About the multiplayer. From Facebook.

Hey, folks! I’m Jared Neuss, Producer for Peggle 2 here at PopCap Games. As you can imagine, the launch of Peggle 2 has been extremely exciting for all of us on the team. We’ve been working hard for quite a while to bring players something completely ridiculous, fun and joyous. To finally see real human beings out in the wild enjoying their experience with this thing that we’ve made is rewarding in a way that’s difficult to express. It’s awesome, to say the least. Thanks so much for all of the kind words and genuine excitement!

So, now that Peggle 2 is out in the world, what are we doing? While I can’t reveal too much, I’m happy to announce that we’re currently focused on bringing you a multiplayer mode that may sound familiar to Peggle veterans: Duels! This new mode will enable players to compete against each other, in the same room or across the Internet, head-to-head on the same board. We loved Duel mode in the original Peggle and can’t wait to bring it into the updated world of Peggle 2!

We’ll be announcing details soon, but rest assured that we’re working to bring you Duels as soon as we possibly can. For free. Because free is rad and you fine folks deserve it.

I’m also happy to announce that Duels are just the beginning. There are lots of surprises in store for Peggle 2 fans and we’ll be bringing you regular updates as we continue to expand and add to the world that we’ve built. In the meantime, we’d also like to get together with you for a community gaming night, where the Peggle dev team faces off against fans in a few friendly-and-not-at-all-incredibly-competitive rounds of Peg Party. More to come on that as we lock down dates and times.

Thanks again for all of your support. We’re glad you love Peggling as much as we do!

Jared

Played this online for the first time last night. Out of 7 rounds I only won 1. It wasn't really a fair fight though because the other guys all had every master unlocked and I only had the first two.

What a fun game. Beat the game. 60 levels + 57/60 trials. These 3 I got stuck on seem absurdly hard..... one is score 250,000 pts with one ball (the level layout makes it hard), and the other two are I think "Get at least 5 skill shots". I gave up. For the optional objectives, I didn't get that many. I just concentrated on clearing the levels.

The highest score I got one a level was just over 2,000,000 pts. A bunch of 1,000,000 scores, but the vast majority of my scores for a level are somewhere between 200,000-400,000.

I'm not happy with the 5 characters, didn't peggle one have like double that? I thought some of the original characters were in this game, I guess I was wrong.

I love the character on the
graveyard levels but her special sucks so I won't be using her,

The graveyard girl comes in handy on some trial levels. There are a few trial levels which want you to get 500k or 750k where her ability is on for the whole level so you get unlimited ghosts shots.

After racking up enough multipliers (to make scoring go faster) and clearing a path, just keep shooting the ball down the middle of the level, breaking blue bricks and into the bucket for a free ball. You'll also get 25k and 100k bonuses if you do it enough in a row. After doing this for a few minutes you'll get the required point score.

Finished going through all the levels tonight and started on the trials. Got through the first two rounds, the Peggle Institute Trials and the Mountain Highs Trials. So far haven't gotten too stuck.

In trials, you'll run into a bunch later that will definitely require some trial and error. There's 3 trials I got stuck on and gave up.... for now.

I've cleared all the trials and am now working my way through all the regular levels trying to 100% them. I've got Peggle Institute, Mountain Highs and Winter Blunderand completed. Some of them are pretty challenging but finding the electric guy Gnorman works the best for me.

Over the holidays, I'm hoping to max out the whole game.... within reason.

Currently cleared the game at 60/60 levels, all 60/60 trials, and currently at around 100/180 mini-objectives. Some of them are oddly hard so I skipped them for now. By the looks of it, if I keep plowing through the game, I may end up at 150/180 mini-objectives without going crazy trying for all of them.

Mini-objectives are so much easier when you have all the characters unlocked.

A few quick tips about the 5 masters and trying for trials and mini-objectives:

- Use the horse for especially for skill shot levels. Using his trajectory beam, it's easy to nail balls into the bucket
- Use Berg for levels with lots of round legs that can bounce around
- Use Gnorman for levels with lots of bricks that don't bounce around
- Use ghost girl for those few levels where you need to get 500k or 750k points with unlimited ghost power. Just keep drilling the shot into the bucket for a free shot while also getting points from breaking blue pegs. Makes sure there's no non-blue pegs in the way and make sure your multiplyer is high enough to make the points accumulate faster
- For Jeff, I didn't find much use for him. Though there may be some levels his boulder ball may be good for that I forget
- Many mini-objectives you'll be replaying over and over again (clear all pegs), but if you purposely plan to do skill shots into the bucket to get free balls here and there (when it's reaosnably easy to do), it'll help you out big time later in the level come crunch time
- Many mini-obj are "clear all pegs" and "get xxx score". Sometimes you can do both at once, since clearing all pegs means all the bonus buckets are 100k pts, instead of 10k, 50k, 100k.
- When all characters are unlocked and you can pick who to use for, overall I found Berg and GNorman the best aside from the horse and ghost girl advantages I said above

Just got DLC content for Peggle (360) for 99 cent. Grabbed it very last minute before it changed to different games (what a lucky I was!). Loved it. ;) I cannot wait to play the 2nd game on One, though.

I ended up buying it and it is great. At first it was auto recording clips all the time but the last time I played it , it seemed like that wasnt happening near as much. Did they release an update to fix that? They should have the option to turn of the clip recording.

That was my biggest gripe (that and no leaderboards). I hated that it was constantly recording clips and wished there had been an option to shut that off. Anyway, really loved the game, have all but one challenge left that I can't seem to get. Hope they come out with some DLC for it at a later date!

I was hoping this thread was active because of news of DLC. I am at 100% and want a reason to go back to it. Hurry up PopCap!!!!

I played an hour or so of this game tonight after taking a bit of a break. Game sure is fun. Getting close to finishing it...

2.8GB update out.
