I was kind of surprised that there wasn't more third party exclusive stuff like it was rumored.

Probably not going to be ready for a while, FF is a big deal to a lot of people but it's not unexpected either.

You know very well there has been a debate here about whether more PS games would be going to PC. At least they are being upfront about it now.

Now? they have had PS4/PC 3rd party console exclusives for a while it's nothing new and it's silly to pretend it is. That tweet was just the guy trying to be an ass, there were no new first party Sony games announced for PC today that was a 3rd party title. I'm sure some older PS4 exclusives will come to PC down the road but they aren't doing day and date launch like the competition does.

Edit: If you were talking Demon's Souls I didn't even see that so I apologize but they said that was a mistake and it's PS5 exclusive. I do think it's silly to pretend they've ever been anything but transparent regarding their PC release strategy though, they've already commented on that before.

Walmart said f*ck it and opened up preorders. Obviously they got snatched up quickly.

Got mine pre ordered at Walmart just now!! I got the good one!!

Yeah the game of chicken both played with each other ended up being a bunch of nothing.

I doubt Horizon and God of War hit next year due to various economic, logistical and covid reasons. If both are not delayed, I can see Horizon actually shipping first.

That is only due to you seeing the outcome. Had Sony unveiled the price sooner, the competition price likely would have looked much different as well as the packaging

Just put my deposit down at gamestop, the one by my house is high volume and isn't closing (this year) They only got an allocation of about 20 initially and luckily I was in line when the cut pre-orders off, they turned about 20 people away at the door in the time I was there and I was about 8th in line. They also ran out of the standard edition first, I was getting digital so that was fine with me but it's all anyone behind me in line would be able to get. I'm sure they'll get more consoles allocated, the PS4 was very limited on the first day as well but by the time launch day came around that store had a few hundred pre-orders.

I think both sides overthought it, there was no way the Series S would be cheaper than $299 and the Series X couldn't be within $200 of that or it just wouldn't make sense for both consoles to exist, there was also no way MS was going to release the Series X for $400 that's just too big of a loss, no matter what anyone thinks of their game offerings that's a good set of hardware and $500 is more than a fair price (same for PS5). It also never made sense for Sony to do a digital version if they weren't going to cut the price substantially, they wouldn't do two sku's for $20-$50 savings, it just wouldn't make sense when it came to marketing etc.

I've seen on twitter that Horizon is coming out on PS4 as well, not a good luck for Sony after the "we believe in generations" talk, it also makes me think it's pretty much a sure bet for 2021 if the PS4 is still in their plans.

My gamestop seemingly had just as many if not more DE's he's trying to make something out of nothing again. He blocked me on twitter after I pointed out that he was wrong about Xbox Live Gold becoming free

I don't even know why they bothered to say that. Nobody would have cared and they should have announced the ps4 versions months ago

I always wondered about that. Because they have what, like 120 million customers on PS4?

Yeah and it's a big franchise and if you sell early you don't want to cut off a large chunk of sales that's why I don't believe in selling these kinds of games until the second holiday. I think launch window is great for new IP and remakes etc but for brand new AAA sequels I think second holiday and beyond makes the most sense unless it's cross-gen which I don't think anyone investing in a new console really wants to see happen.

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan says more PlayStation 5 units will be available than PS4s in 2013

Ryan also said that of the thousands of games tested for PS4 backwards compatibility, “99 percent” can be played on the next console. Sony also announced a new service called PS Plus Collection, which will offer 18 PS4 first-party titles for download to subscribers to the PlayStation online service. It’s a tremendous freebie for anyone who plays their PlayStation online, and a good entry point for anyone new to Sony properties like “The Last of Us.”

Also the official specs are listed on the blogsite and there was no down clock, once again that guy was full of s***.

It does sound like lots of gamestops are getting mostly discs though. Thought Sony might pull that.

People making a lot of assumptions on things when stores didn't even know they were going to start pre-orders today. The digital console makes them more money long term, I think reading too much into what some are saying they are getting for stock now is silly.

I knew $50 wasn't enough to justify the higher end SKU over the lower end SKU. That made absolutely no sense. One hundred dollars was always the minimum i saw separating these two SKUs.

As for Microsoft not knowing Sony's price, even if they didn't match their price, they could have packaged the system differently to give it more value.
