It is alot. But Battman, Hitman, lego Games exclusive to the Xbox seems like a not to bad business move. Do WB still have the Lord of the Rings licence? If so, pop that over to Obsidian for A LOTR RPG.

Those licenses aren't for sale though it's the studios, I would guess Mortal Kombat is the only one that comes with a developer purchase. Also purchasing them adds nothing to their portfolio because those games were all already coming to Xbox anyway so all it does is take those games away from playstation owners and that would prove Phil Spencer is a huge hypocrite. The purchase of the entire WB group only makes sense if they keep games multiplatform, 4 billion for a publisher who's value is made up by customers who spend more money on other platforms that would be cut off makes no sense.

Is this confirmed?

WB owns DC comics but they aren't selling that they are selling their gaming division. Maybe they'll allow an exclusive time frame but that would cost them money long term, especially when MS is doing subscription stuff for first party. WB's value comes from being a multiplatform publisher that works with popular licenses.

So you don't know.
I think WB games which is on the market includes the GAME rights.

They will be multiplatform, via Xcloud.

If you don't get tge licenses then kind of pointless buying them.

So you don't know either and nowhere does it say that they are selling the rights to IP's that they own, it would be stupid for them to do that long term. They'd make far less money.

Xcloud isn't multiplatform you still only pay Microsoft and it blocks out the largest player block of players who would buy these games which is PlayStation owners.

I don't see them selling the rights to Batman or any DC property to a platform holder, they can license those out to whoever they want and make more money long term that way by getting a piece of each sale for a game that can launch on up to 5 platforms (xb, PS, nintendo, Stadia, PC) The actual studios they are selling are good studios so there is value in having them under your umbrella but I don't know why any company would be interested in buying them all in bulk, that's a lot of new employees to take on, a lot more investment in new projects etc.

I know Sony has Spider-Man but there are other possible issues which are always denied but they do own the movie rights to that character and that could play a part in why they have it, we also don't know how many games that deal is for.

As if they didn't already have the best looking console....

It be stupid for anyone to buy them without getting those rights.

No it wouldn't, those are talented development houses for sure, I think it's crazy trying to sell them all as a bunch though. I know they want to just get money because there is value in that division but they'd probably find buyers faster if they sold each studio separately.

I honestly hope they don't get a buyer, those studios are doing just fine where they are and it's not like they are costing the company money it's just them trying to sell something of value to get money to put towards their large debt. It seems like a dumb move to me, AT&T wants to sell WB games for $4 billion to put towards a $200 billion debt, it's a not going to make a big impact and long term it keeps making money for them.

Sorry, but fake, looks like someone took the ps5 press release photo and just turned down the brightness slider to zero, the ps logo shouldn’t even look like that...none of the lighting makes sense...even the controller I think they forgot to laso the bottom edges when they photoshopped it and it command/control-I

I dunno.
But this could be the 2TB model.

There won't be a 2TB model, if they ever add extra storage it'll be double what's in the original, they went with that odd number for a reason. If you want to use a replacement 2TB it'll have to be something faster than the one that's included.

They will have a double or higher option.
Likely at or near launch.
External SSD's of this tech will be way 2 costly.
A 825gb SSD only option will not cut it especially the competition will not only have a bigger SSD but external options available.

It doesn't block them tgough. That is tge whole point of Xcloud.

I don't know how licensing works when buying a company. But 4 billion seems like alot for a few dev studios alone.

Cerny went over that in the "Deep dive" but some people either didn't hear it or have forgotten about it. Some acted like they only went with that strange number because they were too cheap for a 1TB SSD which is not the case at all, they'd have spent less doing the fairly standard 1TB set up that XSX has.

There is very little real world difference in storage available between an 825GB SSD and a 1TB, it's going to be like 3 games worth of space. If you want to expand the SSD you'll need to get a drive that's probably faster than the one they included and it's going to have to fit in the bay that's built for it.

Jim Ryan already said the digital and the disc based versions of the PS5 have the exact same specs, there is no larger storage option there, one is just missing the drive and will surely be offered at a lower price.

I doubt they want $4 billion just for the services of developers. Even if they had 2000 devs, you’d be paying $2 million for the services of each developer who could just walk out at the end of their contract. No way they asking that kind of money without licences included.

It's not just the talents they are likely buying the buildings they work in etc.
