Well, my decision to #walk away from gaming didn't last long. I discovered that I need some form of escapist entertainment. Most of my life is pretty much "on purpose," even if it's not necessarily serious. The issue there is, I need something to provide entertainment and distraction -- an "escape" from real life, so to speak (don't misunderstand, I'm enjoying my life quite a bit, but everyone needs a break from reality now and then).
I don't do many of the things "normal" people do, to escape/entertain/distract -- I don't watch TV; I don't have cable; I don't subscribe to Netflix or Hulu or any of that; I don't watch movies; I don't use much social media; I don't read fiction. Apart from Youtube and music, I don't have anything that just provides an entertaining distraction. I found that I needed that, and gaming is a good way to get it.
So I re-bought a PS4. In addition to what I just mentioned, I specifically wanted to play The Outer Worlds, which is coming out next week. It's the kind of game I enjoy, and we haven't seen anything like it for a while. I also knew there would be other games that I'd want to play eventually (e.g., Death Stranding or TLoU2), so I knew I wouldn't be able to hold out until next gen.
I changed my gamertag and wiped my old FL. No offense to anyone, of course, but I wanted a fresh start, and I'd never played with anyone on my FL anyhow. I'm not an MP gamer, and my PS4 isn't even online 99% of the time. You're welcome to add me back, if you like. New tag is Humdinger58.
I spend most of my time at GAF lately -- more people, wider range of opinions, more attention to games that interest me, less Xbox bias, less Orange Man Bad, fewer enemies (ha), etc. But I'll drop in here occasionally, just because.
Anyhow, I figured I'd let you guys know what's up.
