Yeah I'm positive lol, don't even hear it when it's running. Are you playing your games with the volume turned off?

yeah I'm positive, i could wager i might hear it even with headphones. Are you playing on normal PS4 and not realizing?

LOL I had a quiet launch PS4 and have a quiet launch Pro.

My Pro is really quiet. Ive only been playing the Uncharted games so far. (I took a break to play Bioshock Infinite though. Such an amazing game!)

It's definitely quieter than my PC.

Mine is quiet. No headphones. I hear it whirr a little from time to time, but that's it -- nothing disruptive, and certainly nowhere near the jet engine noises that others are describing. Plenty of people report the same (seems to be plenty of people in both camps).

From following discussions on this at other forums, there seems to be a bit of a lottery with regard to whether you get a loud or quiet unit, which does speak to some quality control issues, or at least a variation in loudness levels. It appears to be luck of the draw, as to which type you get. Some people talk about various fixes, but I haven't seen anything definitive.

While it is a bit annoying for me it's not a game breaker. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the loudest I would say mine can be at a 4. But it's not right away. It takes a little bit.

To me it just means it's working as intended, just louder than others.

good cooling with added noise>soso cooling with less noise.

I don't hear any of my machines especially when my 7.2 surround is on but if I did as long as my machines were not overheating I'm fine with a little noise.

I currently live in a condo, so I just have a soundbar and I keep it down due to adjoining neighbors. Once we move into our new house, then my 7.2 surround knocking s*** off the walls.

You made a 1-10 scale and chose 1 to be loudest? That seems so wrong. It should be 10 that's loudest!

Why else would you "turn it up to eleven!" [/Bad chav accent]

Yeah, and I still did it wrong. 1 being the loudest, I mean't to say mine would be a 6, not a 4. I did it ass backwards. It should be

1. Quiet as a mouse
2.
3.
4. Hedon's Pro at times
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10. Loud as f***

mine is 2 without pro game

5 with most pro games

9 70% of the time in select pro games like titanfall2, uncharted 4, horizon

They manufacture these consoles with fans made by 2 different companies (Nidec and Delta) from what I've read. I don't know which one is which. Luckily, mine is one of the quiet ones.

I've never noticed mine. It makes a tiny bit of noise but nothing I would ever call loud. Mine is more hot and I wish the fans actually did a little more. Any time I go to swap out an HDMI cable or something (stupid non HDR PSVR) it feels really, really warm all the time.

Ah, so maybe that's the explanation.

I think the Delta fans are the loud ones from what I've read elsewhere.

Sounds about right...

I think my Pro would give it a good run for it... now this is with game audio on normal... just think how loud Pro is that the phone doesnt pick up the game but does pick up PRO

i literally have just not played it at times cause i cant be arsed dealing with that noise 70% of the time.

should work now?
Yeah works now. Mine sounds that way at times, but never THAT loud for long periods. We might have one of the two fan options, with one of them apparently being the culprit. I might replace my Pro with a newer one this year hoping I get the better fan. I assume they probably have eliminated it by now.

Holy hell that thing sounds awful. No wonder some people are so pissed. Even in the summer after playing for 2 hours and the temp is 80F in the house, mine doesn't come close to doing that. Most of the time you can't hear mine, but when it does it's a slight whirl that usually raises and lowers every few minutes that you can only hear if you're within 5 feet of the console. And it only does that while running in HDR with 2160p enabled. Otherwise, mine isn't much louder than my X1.

Wow....yea mine isn't nearly that loud.

Yeah, that is ridiculous. It's like having a vacuum cleaner going while you're trying to play a game. Anyone with a unit like that should return it immediately for a refund. There is something wrong with that thing.

Mine is very quiet. I never notice it, and my TV volume is low, with no other background noise.

Wow, yeah I have never, ever heard anything close to that out of my Pro. I sit right next to mine right now when I play too.

I have YET to hook my pro to my 50" 4K HDR set as I am still waiting on getting a new stand to support it and my AV stuff as well as the Pro and the One S. So I have not yet had the chance to see what my Pro can REALLY do yet.
