PS4 update 2.0, 10/28

Hey maybe you are right. I usually trust Kettos technical knowledge but perhaps he's failed me today.
 
Ladies and gentlemen there is already a pretty big bug with 2.0. If you enter rest mode (new name for sleep mode), you may get an issue where you can't wake up back the console using the controller and you have to manually hold down the power button. if that doesn't work you will have to plug out the system and turn it back on. so yeah, it happened to me...now you try it and report your findings.

Anyone uploaded a custom background yet? Are there official ones to choose from / download?

I wasn't stating it as a fact, just seemed like that would be the case in some manner. Though I don't trust Ketto more than any other member on here regarding technical expertise...other than me :)

Just started from rest mode and luckily didn't experience the problem.
 
I have seemingly found the Fix. Going into safe mode and rebuild database
 
Also 2.0 has seemingly sped up the system start up. (At least from sleep mode) It's at least twice as fast.

That actually makes more sense. I couldn't believe that, from a business perspective, they were going to allow anyone on a friends list to play a game, without paying anything.

No I mean the technology is remote play's, they're one and the same. The way PSV connects to PS4 is the same way Bob's PS4 connects to Joe's. No streaming goes through PSN servers (since that would add even more latency). Basically PSN is just there as the front end to allow you to view your friend's list to connect to people. But once you actually connect it's P2P. If Sony wanted to, they could enable anyone who has a Vita to connect to anyone else's PS4 via shareplay.

Happened to me just now. It worked fine for the first time , but today it didn't wake up and had to do what you said.
 
The bar looks better now with just the last things you've used. One thing that pisses me off is sony lift that f***ing sony music and movie icon on there. Can you remove those?

nope. theyre clearly there to entice people to sign up :/

for the next update i hope they include a friend sorting options. ie. "favourite friends", "destiny friends", "fifa friends" etc. i have so many people on my list but i forget who most of them are or why i added them . and from that they could make each group have custimisable notifications, eg. only rceieve party/online notifications from people in your "favourites"

I believe those go away if you have 15 other items.
 
So my PS4 just froze in the main UI and then just powered off a few seconds later. Had to power on at the console and then it went into that system memory check. Next it rebooted and shortly after I was hit with a bunch of save game upload failures. Not caring too much I went to start a game of peggle and the system gets stuck in a boot loop where it keeps trying to start the game, failing and then trying again endlessly. I powered it off and turned on TV. Hope this s*** gets sorted out and they patch this soon otherwise I'm probably done playing for awhile.
 
Rest mode is boned for me. 2 for 2 it has been stuck trying to go into rest with the yellow light flashing and the fan continuing to run. First time holding the power button did nothing and the second time I just pulled the power cable right away.

My system is a buggy mess and I never even used rest mode. Never had a problem before this update.
 
i'm not touching rest mode until an official fix / press release is out. the problem is too widespread to risk it
 
How's the update? I haven't had any reason to turn my PS4 on lately since there isn't much to play.
 
Yeah when the update was installing for me the system screwed up or something. It had to rebuild the databases on the next boot up. It seems to be working now though. Man I thought my system was toast. :crazy:
 
I read online for those with rest mode issues that if you go into settings for rest mode and change USB charging to Always that it fixes it. I'll find out in a bit and if not I'll try rebuilding the database.

yeah I just had an issue I had to hit power on the PS4 itself to get it to start right and it did a check as it started. OH Sony still ccan't do updates worth a damn. you'd think they'd test this s*** out.
 
I've honestly had almost no issues with PSN updates or anything, its been a smooth experience for me overall.
