CPU and GPU manufacturers usually don't have gigantic problems with yields such that Sony is having because they can use the parts that don't meet spec for one product, in a lesser product. Console manufacturers don't have that option, every chip has to be have at least 36 functional CU's and also be able to clock at whatever 2+GHz clock they are running.

With that in mind, how does it play out as it relates to cost and production now? Can this drive the cost up?

All these rumors keep making me nervous. I am already worried I won't get a pre-order. Glad they debunked that rumor.

2 TB option and potential cost/price.

That's fake, unless they are putting in their own replacement SSD that has twice the storage, Jim Ryan already said they aren't adding storage to either of the Sku's the only difference is the removal of the disc drive.

I wonder if storage will be in 825GB increments?

For what? Sony isn't selling additional storage. If you feel like it you can replace the drive that came with it if you buy one with the Sony seal of the check cleared quality.

Right, but Cerny said 825 was picked for the absolute best performance. Would that then mean the second stick would need to be in 825 increments for absolute best performance?

False like him saying that MS would be getting rid of gold and making online play free? he was very sure of that not too long ago, they didn't even make F2P online games free just Halo infinite. As far as I can remember the only thing he's ever gotten right are dates for media events but I don't remember him ever actually breaking news, doesn't mean he hasn't I just don't remember him doing it.

He was the first to have Sony's show date a couple months ago and he had The Initiative not at the Xbox show which nobody wanted to believe.
