PS5 Pro - 2024?

Not here, but the internet in general seems to think that the PS5 Pro is being made to run GTA6 better or something. Just a whole lot of assumptions that may or may not line up. I think it is just too easy a rumor to start, especially when we're well into this gen, but still a ways from next.

It’ll probably be an upres checkerboard scenario again, checkerboard gate 2.0 dun dun dunnnnn

Did anyone see this before they took it down?

It was the video about leaked internal documents from a month ago. Jeff Gertsman said it looked legit cos it looked like the leaked documents they attained from the ps4, which they only talked about but never released images

Are there any fall games (either PS or mutliplat) that would really would push sales? I'm sure I'm missing games, but the only really big titles I can think of (other than yearly stuff) is 2025.

Concord might be this fall.

Lost Soul Aside, Concord, Until Dawn remake, Silent Hill 2 remake, Astrobot 2, Snake Eater, Black Myth Wukong (in August) all supposed to be this year still.

Developers Question PlayStation 5 Pro's Validity - Base Model's Full Potential Not Unlocked

by T0@st Mar 26th, 2024 13:48

The recent PlayStation 5 Pro specification leak has caused quite a stir—even games development studios were surprised by some of these details. Chris Dring (Head of GamesIndustry.biz) attended last week's GDC industry event, where he met many developers who "did not understand the point" of Sony's upcoming mid-generation console refresh. The most hardcore segment of the current PS5 userbase will likely enthusiastically embrace a more powerful variant, but Dring's observations indicate that development studios are not expressing as much excitement—over a refreshed model—as the gaming community. This topic was discussed during yesterday's GamesIndustry.biz Microcast—industry figures believe that the base PlayStation 5 model's full potential remains untapped.

This is sort of misleading only in the sense that some games are going to take more advantage of the hardware than others. It's all there for them to use now yes but most aren't using it to its full potential and most probably won't. At least with the Pro it'll be easier to do more and it's not like they have to create new assets or anything.

It's basically...a remaster.

I was thinking back to the last mid gen refreshes for both platforms, and I remember being underwhelmed. Those launch consoles were really lacking power too, something I don't think the PS5 suffers from (remember last gen running games at 800p instead of 1080p and sub-30fps numbers). I seem to remember, games worked fine on it, but most didn't show much improvement beyond load times. It wasn't like most multiplats had a massive boost.

I wouldn't call it buyers remorse for rushing out and buying both mid-gens, but it definitely was underwhelming.

I really wonder what price point they set, and what kind of improvements we'll see in games. Maybe I'm not remembering the last mid-gen that much, but I don't seem to remember any "wow" games pushing beyond what we had. That said, if it is $500 I'll probably buy one. I need to replace my old Xbox mid gen (what was that even called lol) on my main TV. My niece and nephew come over and complain how slow games take to load.
