PlayStation says it has not cut production numbers for its upcoming VR headset, following a report from Bloomberg.
The firm told GamesIndustry.biz that it is "seeing enthusiasm from PlayStation fans for the upcoming launch, which includes more than 30 titles such as Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Call of the Mountain, and Resident Evil Village."
The initial report said that Sony was making a significant reduction in its projections for PlayStation VR 2, and even warned supply partners that manufacturing could decrease as well.
The outlet stated that Sony had halved its original forecast for PSVR 2 shipments from two million units for the headset's launch quarter to one million.
PlayStation VR 2 is due to launch on February 22. It will be priced at $550, with 37 titles set for release during its launch window.

This kayak simulator looks infinitely better to me than the VR Horizon game, which looks like a glorified Kinect / Move title.

Wait, the psvr2 has its own gpu? Or this only in comparison because the ps5 is doing all the work? Wouldn’t optimization just be easier on ps5 instead of the infinite variations of PCs?
It's using the PS5 for its rendering from what I understand and yes, consoles can be optimized better due to lower level API.

People need to separate the hyperbole.
The PS5 isn't faster at rasterization than a 3090TI in vr.....it is simply optimized better for it's own VR games. This kind of sensationalizing is ridiculous.
It's not just the optimization of the console either. Eye tracking seems to really push the boundary even more. "Faster than a 3090ti" is just warrioring as always, but for the first time in decades we will get some console games that look superior to pc games. The optimization pipeline is just too efficient this time for the shotgun pcvr approach to keep up outside of ridiculously powerful rigs.
I have a pre-order set-up, but there doesn't seem to be any killer app right now. This might be the first headset I use to actually watch movies though, so I'm justifying it that way for now.
