Hi, everyone. Question - what is the manufacture date on your PS4s (and when did you buy it)? The reason why I am asking this is so I can get an idea of what to expect when I do go out eventually and buy a PS4. I was tempted to buy a PS4 when it first came out, but no; I wanted to let others buy the first (and second) batches so whatever manufacturing defects there were would get fixed by the third or fourth batch. So, I'm interested in knowing what the supply is like out there. The more recently manufactured a console is, the better chance I have of it not dying on me (that's the view I subscribe to, anyway). ALSO - what game(s) are out now that you would recommend for a "new" PS4 owner? Killzone? (I also do plan on selling my Xbox 360 as a trade-in, too.) Thanks. Nice forum, BTW.

I bought mine at launch so it's one of the earliest batches out there. No problems so far. Games I recommend are Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack (if you can get it for less than retail), NBA 2K14, BF4, AC4, COD:G, Resogun (free with PS+), Lego Marvel Super Heroes. That should keep you busy for a good 1-2 months then you can get Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Thief, Outlast (free with PS+ for February). That should keep you busy for another month or so, then Infamous: Second Son and Drive Club should be out by then.

I remember so many people throwing a fit over the wobble of the console. It was pretty numerous.

Well I have no idea about America, but in Korea it's been pretty serious. Less than 10,000 boxes were shipped to begin with, and Sony engineers admitted that around 10% of the consoles shipped were defective. It's not RROD level of doom, but it is causing some stir amomg PS4 buyers.

When did that happen?

When did that happen?

I mean engineers in Korea, that is why the word is not widespread. It is based on what he and his colleagues experienced, by comparing the number of shipped consoles and faulty ones. Once users started to suspect that the rate was suspiciously high, some of the users just asked the engineer about it when they brought their faulty PS4 to customer center. That said do not spread this to anywhere, it's true only for here, and will be too much of a flamebait.

I remember it being you primarily who was making a big deal about it.
Actually it was everyone but me. You folks were so terrible at handling any mention of a simple known problem. It was especially amusing.

Killzone is nice and the SP experience is very good. Other than that you're not going to spend much time with it. But it sure is a good looking game to show-case the next gen graphics.

At this very moment these are the games that are a must: AC:BF, NBA2K14, CoD: Ghosts and Battlefield 4. NFS:Rivals is also awesome in-case you're into racing.

You'll have to wait about 2 more months to get a proper exclusive title for the PS4 (Infamous: Second Son)

Only it isn't a problem at all. To the OP, Buy the PS4, it is one hell of a piece of hardware. As for games, AC4, PS+ freebies, and Need For Speed will keep you entertained for many hours.

It wouldn't stop me from buying a PS4 but i mean you pay $400 for a state of the art piece of tech and it wobbles? That's a joke.

Only it is not a problem it is how the console is designed so it can be stood vertically (look at where the bumpers are). If you take your hand off your console it is always level.

Funny thing about the wobbling of the PS4 is that it has nothing to do with the console itself having three pegs over four. It's just that that third peg is placed in the smackdab middle of the console with the other two pegs supporting the right hand side, leaving the left hand side completely unsupported. It was definitely a weird oversight for a $400 console.

Yeah, it's definitely an oversight and nothing that should make or break a purchase. You just figure these days someone would notice that before shipping it out. I've got some OCD in me so something like that does bother me but i'd hook it up, play it, and quickly forget about it.

To be honest? I even tried it and you have to push down really hard for it to wobble. I don't think it's a design issue or an oversight. It's just the way it's built...
