I assume you can continue to play after the final mission? I'm just doing the side mission stuff now but wouldn't mind just finishing the main story and then taking a break until DLC comes out.I just "finished" the game last night. Be prepared for a less than stellar ending...

Yeah. Story and characters were generic as hell. Game was saved by the great mechanics. Too bad there weren't many creative scenarios to take advantage.Good
The Sandworm is somewhere inside the Dune Sea.

Not really. The story is weak as hell, but the mechanics are fantastic. It's worth playing, buy I have an overwhelming sense that better writing and narrative direction would have made it special. These devs need to understand that mechanics can't replace a good scenario...All this impressions of the game are sounding almost exactly like the first game. Sounds good to me because I loved the first game. I just wish they had learned from the first one and had a decent ending for this one. Did it at least feel finished? Playing the end of the first game you could really tell that they just ran out of time and couldn't finish the game.

Well... At least you know what to expect...Sounds just like the first one. The feel of the weapons and hit detection/reaction was phenomenal and I really enjoyed it. Though I always sort of felt it was just something id software was using as warm up with the new id tech 5 before they tackled their big Doom reboot. The story was meh and the setting was like a generic Mad Max with some other post apocalyptic tropes, but I even quite enjoyed that because it was my type of thing. The big problem with it was that you get like two thirds of the way through the game then it suddenly just kinda ends. You could even tell that the map was supposed to be bigger and include other areas, but again everything just kinda stops short. They even admitted as much after the game released so I was really hoping they would fix those issues with the second one.
The main man responsible for the Rage franchise is retiring from ID Software. Tim Willits and his teams created my two favorite games ever, Rage 1 and Rage 2.
I remember when the first Rage came out you were the only other guy on here who loved it as much as I did. Dispite it's other flaws I felt it had the best combat of any shooter of it's generation. At least we got to see a next gen sequel made!
You were on Teamxbox. I started the Official Rage thread there. When Teamxbox closed, the owner gave us our user IDs here at VGU and I just ignored this site somewhat. A couple of trolls moved over so I did not use any forums anymore even though I had a user ID here. When Walmart Canada announced Rage 2, I started here again just to start the official Rage 2 thread. It is good to see one of the good people from Teamxbox here. Some of the good ones seem to be gone.
The main number 1 guy at Teamxbox loved Rage 1 and gave it the official Teamxbox score- 9.2 I did everything I could to support Rage 1 hoping that Rage 2 would be made someday. I figured it was only a matter of time when Tim Willits said that Rage was not dead. I don't know if there will be a Rage 3, but I am living in the Rage 2 world from June to December 2019. I am done with all other games this year. I am barely excited for Wolfenstein Youngblood or Doom Eternal even though I love those franchises. I will save those for 2020. 2019 is year of Rage 2. I am around 60 hours in and maybe half done. I laugh when people say Rage 2 is short and they skipped %90 of the game. You and I were the main 2 Rage 1 fans still posting in my thread by December 2012 when Rage The Scorchers launched. That was the greatest DLC ever made. We still have 2 expansion packs to look forward to and both are supposed to be huge. Rise of the Ghosts will be epic. I love killing them because they were more evil than anyone else in the game. We have 2 more World Events to look forward to also. Quakecon should bring exciting news.
