Random Gaming News V3

It's eventually going to be like movie players. Different makers (MS/Sony) but all play the same stuff.
Nintendo still off doing its own thing and kicking everyone's arse.

Mostly because Nintendo sticks to its guns with game budgets and graphics. They are very much a gameplay first company, everything else second. It would surprise me if their development budgets are a 3rd of the other console makers games.

Had Nintendo ever license an ip, besides sports?

Yep. Time for the others to start toning it down. Not every game needs massive budgets or to try and look realistic.
Would be fine with little to no graphical leap next gen and just focus on performance.

If it does well, I fully expect to see more Xbox games go to PS and Nintendo.
Maybe, but we don’t know what prerequisites to “more games” is, s as that’s a rather broad statement… the variables or outcomes may already be predetermined. This is just a test, but is it a single one or many.

If it succeeds, does this mean more sea of thieves for the foreseeable future instead of a proper sequel? Or would it allow them to release a sequel but continue this new status quo and keep it exclusive to Xbox and pc and then years later released on other platforms (primarily for optimization purposes)?

Or could it allow another GAAS game to be released on said platforms, which I don’t think they have many others, we don’t know.

or does this mean they continue with the drip feed of old specific cult classics to be released elsewhere, if it makes sense with fans, resources and investment (basically ROI)?

The ones that would suffer the most from 30fps would be those that require extensive parry, dodge mechanics plus fps shooters otherwise for narrative story games it's fine
I’ve only touched gta vice city briefly, maybe less than a handful of hours.

But wouldn’t it affect its mp component?

Unless Sony cancel it. Sure it was going to be announced about 5 months ago.

I think it will be officially announced a couple months before release like the PS4 pro. So if November 2024 then possibly September we will see the press release.

I don't know how many of you guys have played Sea of Thieves but with a group of friends, the game is pretty fun. Was fun at launch if a bit bare-bones. NOW with all the updates its spectacular. Glad the game is getting it flowers and people seeing that Rare is still very talented.

A friend, the waifu and I played for a couple hours, couldn't interest us enough to keep going but more power to those who like the game. I'm sure many find it enjoyable.

Even with the Switch’s power, to be honest all their first party games I have played still look good and run fine to me.

That’s not the gaming world we live in anymore. So many games evolve after release now, and we are the beta testers.
Having a game working well & good at release, and game getting better after release are not mutually exclusive.

I m not one of these live service hater, considering 2 of my favorite ga,es are live servce (Fortnite & Diablo 4).

My point is simply, a game shoud be good at release, if not make it early acess, so people know they are beta testers. Reviewers do not have a obligation to review a game months or years after post release.

Also, if a game is live service, release day review are not helpful.

What about games like wow or ff14?
Game improve over time is a good things, especially for live service. Hvaing a game not good at lanuch and hoping to fix over time is more often than not a bad idea.

Look at Anthem, Avengers etc.

As for single-player titles, Layden says there's grounds to benefit there too: "For single-player games it's not the same exigency. But if you're spending $250 million, you want to be able to sell it to as many people as possible, even if it's just 10% more." He notes that while the console user base has increased its raw spending over time, "I look at that and see that we’re just taking more money from the same people."
