Only a beta:laugh:

There could be an economy update this week according to R*
Well. After the disaster that was GTA online when it launched they are rightly covering themselves this time around.

Yeah it’s only in Beta at the moment so I’m hoping they will tune it up a bit over the next month or two.
They are only calling it a beta so they can excuse its problems. We know its not really a beta.

I am not betting on this. Rockstars have a lot of white knights/jounalists that overlook all the issues/negativity with their games.

Meh, the sp is definitely worth $60 so if the mp is battlefront 2 greedy, I still got my money's worth from the sp.

I play 5-6 hours per day for 4 days & still at chapter 2. I think I did too much side activities, like bounties and treasure hunts.

I haven’t even entered a gunsmith.

I hate the hunting though, but it seems many upgrades required hunting.

Today we are starting to implement the first set of adjustments to the game including changes specifically geared towards creating a more balanced, fun and rewarding overall experience, across all modes and missions. These include:

  • Increasing the cash and gold payments across a number of different activities including Free Roam Missions, Free Roam Events, replays of A Land of Opportunities Missions, Showdown Series modes and more.
  • Reducing the prices of most weapons in the Wheeler, Rawson & Co Catalogue and Gunsmiths. For players that have already purchased weapons at the previous prices, we will automatically deposit the difference to player balances starting today - please look for an alert message the next time you log in to the Red Dead Online Beta to notify you of this change, refunds may take up until December 10th to reach all players.
  • Balancing the values of select pelts, skins and fish as well as horse reviver and pamphlets.
Of course our efforts to improve and balance the Red Dead Online Beta will continue. We are conscious of and still evaluating an assortment of further adjustments based on feedback from the community. We are currently working on fixes for some persistent bugs that are causing some players to be kicked from sessions, and we aim to have fixes for these live next week. We will also continue to review all the feedback and suggestions so please keep them coming to reddeadonline.com/feedback.

As an added thank you for playing and helping us through the beta period, we're also awarding everyone that joined in to play the Red Dead Online Beta at any point through midnight PST today with a gift of RDO$250 and 15 Gold Bars. Gifts should start arriving today and will hit all eligible players by Friday, December 14th.

Once again, we want to thank everyone for playing the Red Dead Online Beta and sharing their experiences so far with us. There’s still lots more to come so please stay tuned!

I played for nearly 60 hours and I only got to chapter 3. I burned myself out too quickly doing side missions and hunting for upgrades. You have to do an insane amount of hunting if you want to get all of the items and outfits from the trapper.

Is there an area in the menus anywhere that tells you how much time you've actually spent playing?

Nope. Xbox owners can see from the Games hub page on the dash board but that will include everything including time spent on the main menu/ loading screen/ pause menus rather than just playtime

I'm at the beginning of Chapter 4 but haven't played the game in about a week. It has an incredibly well crafted world but geese I can’t remember another game that has made me yawn so much while playing. It’s like yeah, the game is heavily steeped in realism but that doesn’t always translate into videogame fun.

Don’t get me wrong the missions themselves are a lot of fun and I really like how shooting feels I just feel like there isn’t enough of it, way too much riding around on the horse. I’ll get back to it at some point but for now its time for this buckaroo to mosey on out into the sunset of other games.

I find myself going into the cinematic mode a lot when horseback riding and browse my phone

It has the worst 'fast travel in a game I have seen. At least a few hours were spent riding random strangers or coaches to some towns, which could be opposite my destination.

Ths fishing & hunting is over complicated, & not help by the poor save system. If these were simplified, the side games would have been more enjoyable by more people IMO.

There was an area where I need to jump in a cave, & I missed the jump & died, I was 'teleported' to some random followed by a dreadfully long unskippable 'revive scene", have to spend 10 mins to get back to where I was, jumped & failed again! Finally manages to jump the 3rd time.

Most decent games will have a checkpoint near where you died, but not RDR2.

Anyway, I am finally in Chapter 3. The sequences from the last mission of chapter 2 to start of chapter 3 are quite ridiculous, & I clocked about an hour before I was able to save & went to bed.

Yet they don't give any examples of the changes. How much have they increased payouts and reduced prices?

I have to take a break from this game. A bit of burnout, & besides, I am returning to work tomorrow, after almost one month of sick leave, so my game time will be only 2-3 hours max weekdays now.

Anyway, I find it refreshing the game makes you feel you are just a member part of a group, instead of the key member let alone sole savior like many games.

I know I have been very critical of the gameplay, but I think they did a great job to make every mission feel unique, less repetitive, from a story point. Every mission feels like an episode of a TV show.

Finally got to Chapter Six the other night.

Broke John out of prison, and kicked out Herr Strauss from the camp as well. Oh yeah, also killed Cornwall too. Dutch has lost his mind

I'm slowly working on this. Like a meal that I'm too full for but will graze until finished. I'll do 1 or 2 story missions every other day. I'm ok with that pace. Maybe during the weekends, I'll do more.

Finally finished the game. Definitely a masterpiece and benchmark for years to come. 2018 has been a great year for gaming for me. Bring on 2019.

Beat the game and the Epilogue. Absolutely fantastic, and it was a cool little easter egg to see a lot of the map from RD1 in the game. Don't remember the plague from Armadillo, but thought that was a nice little touch.

Rockstar, just go aheead and put RD1 as DLC k thanks

I am at 33 hours, according to my Xbox, and just started Chapter 3. I suspect it will take me 50-70 hours to beat the game. Really enjoying my time with it.

I read about the whole voice of adult Jack being caught in the game, but IDK, we'll see about that. What else have you seen to warrant the speculation? Would definitely pay at least 30 bucks for a remake of 1 with 2's graphics.[/spoilers]

I enjoyed the game more when I started not giving a damn about hunting anymore. The funny thing is, it's FAR easier to hunt legendary beasts than normal ones. Its a pain in the ass to get perfect pelts. Also, the rewards (unless you like to dress up your character) don't seem to justified the effort. The game is dead easy already & you really do not need the marginal bonus for crafting extra inventory or trinkets.

But the constant need to load the correct rifles ( & ammo type) on horse & pick them when dismount irritated me from start to end.

Prefect pelts are easy once you get used to it. Use binoculars to look for 3 star. Aim for the red areas in dead eye and use the right weapon depending on size

Wait, so not all animals will get you 3 stars. Now it explained why I get good pelts despite shotting on the red spots with the right weapon. Not a big deal though.

Not a fan of the hunting/fishing & the gambling mini-games. I only played the bare minimum to go through the respective missions.

Nope. You need to scout them to see which animals are in best condition and depending on how you kill them depends if a 3 star animal drops to a 2 or even 1.

For instance a shotgun to a rabbit will see it get 1 star.

I thought the star ratings on animal pelts added a bit of depth to the hunting which would otherwise be far to easy to get what you needed right away. Like real hunting it requires precision and appropriate calibers essentially. There wouldn't be much pelt left to speak of for instance if you shoot a rabbit with a .308...

What do you mean by scouting them for best condition? I do not get you. Are you saying the bino get some info on the animal's condition?

I am sure I absolutely used the right weapons (as per game guides, with 'S'), & shot the red spots at dead center with the yellow filter. Still, I barely get prefect pelts. As a completionist, you can be sure I did my due research when it comes to getting the right stuff done.

but never mind, I have beaten the game. Not getting back to it unless there is single player DLC.
