New Console by Microsoft and “Exciting” New PS4 and Xbox One Game Listed by Australian Retailer

Between the pre-E3 rumors, this has to be the weirdest by far. Prominent Australian entertainment and electronics retailer Dick Smith published three extremely peculiar listings.
The first is for an “exciting new console” by Microsoft, pegged for a TBC December release. The second is for an “exciting new game” for PS4 and Xbox One by Take-Two Interactive and pegged for release on September 30th.
The game could very well be the new generation version of Grand Theft Auto V. As for the console, that’s definitely the weirdest element in this. Phil Spencer already denied the possibility of a portable console by Microsoft, but it could be a new option for the Xbox One (I would chalk a fully new home console as a completely unrealistic theory, for obvious reasons) . As a matter of fact insider Ntkrnl, who dropped a whole bunch of rumors (many of which already came true) on NeoGAF before completely disappearing, mentioned a White version of Microsoft’s new console, and the possibility of one without a disc drive.
While Dick Smith is well known for leaking release dates with a certain precision (they did so with the Chromecast for instance), considering the nature of this rumor, it needs to be taken with a hefty grain of salt. Yet looking the nature of the retailer (which doesn’t even specialize on games) it doesn’t seem like a source that would just play a prank on us.
If there’s anything true in this, the next few days are probably the best occasion for a reveal

Seriously, why would you list such names ? and a new console, nah. I just do not see that in any way, shape, or form.
 
could be like steam machines but with just 2 diferent x1 types(mid range/ high) not counting the kinectless sku? that would be interesting if it ever happened.
 
My guess would be a new cheaper $360. Perhaps with the ability to stream games from a One.

Something like that.
 
There was a lot of talk about "Xbox TV" (a remade 360) before Xbox One was revealed.

Instead, the Xbox 360 E was revealed at E3 but it wasn't the radical redesign people thought it would be. I think if they could shrink the 360 CPU/GPU, take out the hard drive and optical drive, keep a couple of USB ports and maybe add an SD card slot, then they could perhaps have a cheap Xbox TV product. It is certainly a more marketable proposition than it would have been last year now that the apps pay wall is gone.
 
New console?! More like new sku... I doubt they'd want to screw over 4.5 million X1 owners right now.
 
I guess I am failing to see anything about that listing that suggests it is a MS console.
 
Remodeled smaller Xbox One to get away from some of the bad PR would help imo.

From people I've been talking to the bad PR is still lingering in the air.

Xbox One Slim is the only possibility IMO. Still think it's a bit too soon for that though.
 
There was another rumor somewhere a couple months ago that was very detailed about a disc-less X1 coming out later this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was it.

If that is true, I wonder how much they save by removing the disc drive? If they could drop the price another 50 bucks this Fall that would be huge going into the holiday.

100% agree. Looks very professional. If the Xbox One were going in for an interview, it'd get a job just because it's dressed to impress.

What...big, black, and shiny :D

I just do not like it. It is a generic box, which is tolerable, but then they had the stupid idea of making it two tone. One part matt black black, one part piano black. The top only has half vented and the other half flat. it just Looks a mess to me.
