I always chuckle a little bit when people come up to me and say, “Hey, I want Ryse 2!” When Ryse was a launch game for Xbox One it ran into some review headwinds. Now when people think back it’s like, “Okay, there’s something there.”
It's like do they not realize how easy it would be to make a Roman RPG masterpiece out of the Ryse IP? So easy. If Zelda and God of War can change it up then they should be able to with Ryse. Even if it's just another hack and slash with more than 2 enemy types it would be a start.
I bought my XBox One a year after launch and it was one of the first game I tried, along with Tomb Raider...looked awesome and I enjoyed the single player also, great launch game for sure, still holds up today.
I finished this one in a single run. I felt horrible afterwards but the game itself was fun. Hokey and strange in its story though.
That arena mode kept me coming back. I do love gladiator fights, and the massive shifting arena was a perfect mix of crazy and cool for me. Historically accurate in that the ancient colosseum did have shifting features at least.
