If this continues MS will have to get very aggressive. I also expect some serious marketing. Even though I like the One better, imo MS deserves a good smack down. Hopefully this gets them on the right path, bad news though if they lose their home turf and I think they also lost the UK

The meltdowns from this will be epic

I expect quite a few to have this reaction

I can't find a single ACTUAL source reporting the numbers. The only source of information right now is Geoff Kieghly.

http://venturebeat.com/2014/02/13/january-2014-npd-playstation-4-extends-its-lead/

We reached out to Microsoft for its sales result, but it declined to comment. Sony, however, confirmed that the PS4 doubled Xbox One’s sales.

“Demand for PlayStation 4 remains incredibly strong as it was No. 1 in sales for next gen consoles in January, nearly doubling the nearest next gen competitor, and remains the cumulative leader, according to today’s NPD report,” Sony spokesperson Guy Longworth said. ”Although PS4 remains severely constrained at retail, we are working hard to refresh supply as quickly as possible.”

"Nearly doubling" is subjective until Sony or somebody has the hard facts, but if the 143k X1 estimate is accurate, then PS4 sold perhaps.... 270k?

Never the less, good stuff for MS to still have solid X1/360 software sales.

And goods stuff for PS4 selling (probably) 250k+ units.

Interestingly, it seems Keighley gets his info from Sony.

I don't know about where you guys live but the gamestops in my area still have problems keeping PS4's in stock, they are usually gone the day after they come in at the latest from what I was told but generally are gone the same day. I just did a store check and the 32 closest gamestops are currently sold out, I would have to go over 10 miles away to get one and that one is showing low stock as are the others after it.

LMAO someone just posted this gif on the cousin thread over @ Neogaf lol its funny cause i was logged in on my US PSN account prior to that and was watching some NBA clips and saw the all Time Top 10 dunks and Vince Carter's was 1st with the same clip.

Time for a kinectless sku and revamped controller with a built in mic for voice commands included instead for 349-399 haha

I am guessing from here on out X1 sales might decrease? I don't see them selling much more than this next month.

At least until March NPD. God though, this is just really sad. Nintendo and Microsoft's struggles signal a dark time for the games industry as a whole.

I really wish Microsoft had used a little more common sense all the way back from the reveal. I can't say they don't deserve what they get, but I really wanted all the consoles to succeed. One reason I consider the 360/PS3/Wii a golden age in gaming.

I just hope Microsoft can turn this thing around this gen.

No meltdown no need for a price reduction, and yes I think both will sell more this month and next because people are getting their tax money.

Let's wait until Titanfall releases before we crown the PS4. January was anyone's month and with Sony not meeting demand it's no surprise that every time a PS4 went on a shelf it sold. They're using Nintendo's approach with the Wii and it looks like it's paying off at the moment. Plus the PS4 is $100 cheaper. They're supposed to sell more.

They can turn it around by getting rid of Kinect and showing up with killer 1st party games. But as of now this train just kicked into high gear and it ain't slowing down anytime soon. First TR FPS, Sniper Elite and MGS:V and not even 24hours later this bad news hits them. Some heads are going to roll in Silicon Valley tonight.

People are still misinformed my boss who owns a X1 but doesnt have unlimited internet still thought it had to always be online. He was shocked to find out that wasnt the case.

Forget that wait till China hits!

TItanfall won't move alot of mountains as people are expecting it to. It's a game that still has to prove itself and the 6 vs 6 thing put of alot of mindless COD drones who thought it was the next big thing to replace COD , it will sell alot but it won't sell consoles IMHO.

And it's not about PS4 being 100 cheaper so that's why it's selling more ... nopes it's MS getting themselves in this situation, i thought that after last gen launch every party took note of the does and don't but it's like MS went to the don't do list and did just that. All the don't that got their competitor deepthroated last time :smash::smash::txbconfused:

Oh man we're at the “wait till“ stage. We've officially come full circle.

I'm going to play the lotto; this has to be a sign or something.

I think that waiting until the most populated country in the world gets its hands on a console is fair.

So it was okay for Sony drones to keep saying 'wait until this happens' all last gen with the PS3 and 'this is the year of the PS3' but it's not okay for Xbox fans to be optimistic huh?

The fact of the matter is that Microsoft is in a much better place right now than Sony ever was last gen. They've got the marketing down and all the heavy hitters.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that wide of a margin. I was expecting it to be much closer, especially in the US, where MS seems to be uniquely situated for success. I wonder if this is just a blip due to pent-up demand or if it will continue as a pattern.

Think that's what he meant by full circle
