So can't watch with sound right now, did they say why this happened? Was this guy actually an interpreter who is just terrible or did he just "crash the party" and fake it on purpose?
Dude was lucky no bloods were around. #Bloods4LyfeMaybe he was signing in Compton Crips language?
It's actually the bloods that are calling him out as being fake. This is about to get real son.Dude was lucky no bloods were. #Bloods4Lyfe

I heard on the radio earlier that he claimed he was being told what to sign by God. I think he has schizophrenia or something.
I don't believe that. I think he's doing it for money. Interpreters usually get really well paid for very huge event.
The sign language interpreter ridiculed for his incoherent translation of the Mandela memorial service has faced a multitude of criminal charges in the past, including murder, attempted murder and kidnapping, South African news network eNCA reported on Friday.
The network said it received documents from a senior police source that show Thamsanqa Jantjie was found guilty of theft in 1995. The network said it was unclear if he spent time in jail.
The document also revealed that Jantjie was charged with rape, housebreaking, malicious damage to property and murder between 1994 and 2006, but the record shows that Jantjie was found not guilty of the rape and murder charges. The charges of housebreaking, damage to property and a 1996 theft were withdrawn.

She said the translation company offered sub-standard services and the rate they purportedly paid the translator, $77 a day, is far below the usual rate of up to $164 an hour.
That guy should take some ASL lessons from this lady
I do not even understand what she is saying. I don't know if she's actually certified interpreter or not but she doesn't look like one.
Beats the heck outta me, I know zilch about sign language. I saw the story bout that lady on the news originally.
Now I can understand her signs in that video. There are quite several signs I've never seen before, though. She looks like she has a strong passion for Deaf culture, which is good.
This thread made me want to look at other people signing on Youtube. I lol'ed when some people who are trying to teach ASL actually signed wrong. For example, in the first video, the word "candy" that she was trying to sign was actually "bitter,", not "candy." Another word: Halloween. What she signed was "Mask". But she did mostly good. On the 2nd video, the girls are signing far better than "fake interpreter." Everyone can easily see that when compare with each other.
