With development led by Ubisoft Singapore,* Skull & Bones will take gamers to the Golden Age of Piracy where they will create their own unique pirate captains and sail through the beautiful yet treacherous Indian Ocean filled with rich merchant trade routes to loot. Whether it is on their own or as part of a pirate gang, gamers will take the helm of their powerful warship and lead their crew into the endless battle to rule the seas and become the deadliest pirate kingpin.

Skull & Bones is an online naval game that will take players across a dynamic, shared open-ocean that reacts to their actions and evolves to continuously challenge them. Building upon the studio’s naval gameplay expertise, Skull & Bones introduces an innovative wind system that gives gamers tactical opportunities to navigate more quickly, shoot further, hit harder, escape deadly blows, and position themselves to decimate their victims. Gamers will also be able to build their own fleet of ships, which can specialize in different battle conditions using the game’s extensive customization options.

“Skull & Bones is the game that our team has dreamed of building ever since we first set sail singing along to sea shanties and we are excited to finally share our vision here at E3,” said Justin Farren, creative director. “Thanks to our systemic living world, our gameplay innovations, a strong fantasy and the team’s commitment to support the game in the long term, we believe that Skull & Bones will bring players a unique experience allowing them to live the intriguing and thrilling life of pirates.”

In preparation for launch, Skull & Bones will conduct several live alphas and betas. Gamers interested in participating can sign up at http://www.skullandbonesgame.com/beta

S&C = better visuals (more realistic art)
SoT = better gameplay

S&C has you cussing at and taunting the opposing team in pirate vanacular and therefore wins by default.
And CoD World at War had cussing, plus blood and gore and it sold among the least among all CoD games, and rated near the bottom compared to other CoD games.

No one is copying anything. If anything Rare is copying Black Flag.

Thought it looked boring to be honest but its a long way away

Looks so pretty! Much more independent gameplay than SoT though.

Looks like the sea battles of Black Flag with the other gameplay cut out. Being able to sail alone is pretty lucrative though.

I really like this, yet it's another MP only game I can't play.

I have no problem getting 2 pirate games. This and SoT look to be vastly different.

Sea of Thieves looks like a more fun game, but this one looks cool.

They're all copying Sid Meier, and not even including the ability to dance with governors' daughters. NO SALE.

I'm betting on this following in For Honors footsteps and being a bug ridden, always online, microtransaction filled mess.

Doesn't look like it will have a whole lot of...depth :txbcool:

Never played Black Flag but this looks pretty good. Whether I play it or not...

Lots of pirate games all of a sudden. Don't remember there being that many last gen except Pirates of the Caribbean for 360 that i played for achievements. Yeah, it sucked.

Well this is true but at least it doesn't look like Fable Pirates as I loathe the art style.

skull and bones..sure its pretty and all but I bet it'll get boring fast..it looks like it has nowhere near the fun factor or value wise as sea of theives does

SoT wishes it looked like fable, it looks like a free to play game with nice water :) This game looks like something I'd like even though I'd rather have a full single player campaign to go with it that's totally pirate based and not hooked to AC.

I don't like Fable at all especially its looks.

I always liked the style of the architecture in the game but the characters were brought to life more by the humor than their art style. I still hope a new fable gets made but a true fable game not some crap generic fantasy MP game with some fable flavor added to it.

If I wanna laugh for enjoyment I will watch Ed Bassmaster.

Took me all of 5 sec to realise what Skull & bones means. Very original title name. Must have took them all of their 10 mins.

Glad that this is postponed. The look is really great, but I'm hoping that they make the mechanics more fun than last year's videos imply. This should be really tight by launch, IMO.

I know it's obviously going to play very different from SoT, but I wouldn't mind a similar ship repair style (but maybe more complex), as were a some of the other things that SoT has done well. This is exactly why competition is a good thing. Two totally different animals, but no reason not to be inspired by a thing or two.
