Skyrim

I'll definitely be re-buying. Never finished the campaign on 360, spent all my time messing with other things!

I've finished the game 3 times all ready...

But ill be back for at least one more time. I mean, they are going to the effort to porting the nodded PC version.

I think the important thing is, how do we start a thread where no mods are allowed?

Good at? They're pretty easy. They just take a lot of time, that's the main thing. And lots of menu fiddling.

I've gotten an hour into that one Elder Scrolls title on the 360 (with the hell gates) and Fallout 4 and am just terrible at them. I'd love to find a game to sink thousands of hours into that isn't a shooter. But I don't think it will be a Bethesda game.

Must be Oblivion. It's just a matter of spending enough time with them to learn the ins & outs. Once you do that, it's a piece of cake. However, it does take some time to get up to speed. I guess I don't notice that anymore, because I know their system (it's pretty similar across games). But yeah, for someone new to the games, it would take a while.

Bethesda has been working hard to make their games more accessible over the years, ease you into the process, provide tips, compasses, etc.. That's one of the big complaints from the hardcore RPG guys ("dumbed down," "hand-holding," etc.).

One of the reasons why I stopped playing Fallout 4 was because it was overwhelming. So many options, weapons, perks, etc.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It can be overwhelming. Skyrim is the same way.

If you want a tip (you probably don't, but here you go anyhow), it will help if you know, going in, what sort of character build you are going for (melee, range fighter, gunner, stealth guy, whatnot). Read up a little on the skills, get a sense of the skills and perks you'd like to focus on. Lots of combinations are possible, and most of them will work out okay. That will give you direction for the early going, which is probably the toughest slog. There is a point where things will start to click.

I mean, at the end of my playtime with Fallout 4, I still didn't know how I was selecting perks despite having selected some. :p

I'm sure you could get the hang of it, if you stuck with it. They have their own system, but once it starts to click, you're home free. But then again, these games are massive time-sinks, so maybe you're better off not learning. Save yourself a few hundred hours...

Many modders have already pledged to boycott bethesda.net so there actually won't be much of mods. Bethesda hasn't been the best about handling the mod situation.

I'm quite certain this won't affect them in the least.

Discussed it with my husband, said too many RPG's out there right now and why would I want to play one that I've already played thru a bunch of times ...... then I saw this video ..... damn it!!

Why not? Without good modders, mods won't come to bethesda.net

I was more implying that considering how well Bethesda games sell, a few people on the net saying they aren't going to provide mods will likely not make much of a noticable difference in regards to how many are available. Gamers have been saying they're boycotting franchises like COD and EA Sports for nearly a decade now, and they're still enormous selling franchises. Our perception as "hardcore" gamers is rarely respective of the industry or community. In other words, I'm sure there will still be plenty of mods, and your average consumer likely won't notice.

Considering everyone who already owns the game and all the DLC on PC will get this remaster for free as an update, I don't know what the "boycott" would be about in the first place. Your average modder is likely a big fan of the franchise to begin with, and not a console player.

Just to point out, mods aren't all about increasing graphics. Most mods are gameplay changes, added quests, or just changing the visual style or character models up a bit. But anway, modders refusing their mods for a game is very different from just hardcore gamers refusing to buy a game. If hardcore gamers don't buy a game, all of the casual gamers still buy the game and support its existence. If modders refuse to create mods, casual gamers can't just fill that gap and push out mods in their stead. This is a situation where the few hold power over the many. Modders have the upperhand in such a boycott.

I suppose if there was a ton of new content via mods -- I mean quests -- I might consider a purchase.

A remastered Morrowind would have been amah-zang too.

Teach these kids to rpg, and print off actual maps!

And die from enchanting their boots so as they jump super high, but haven't learnt the landing enchant...

I've bought this game twice and still haven't played it. I'll be picking up this version eventually. I've got a problem.
And then they'll release GOTY:RE with extra content that you'll never need.

Bethesda were pioneers for my hatred to DLC.

If The Witcher weren't making everyone else look bad by comparison, we would be screwed over 10 fold.
