Spent about an hour with DS4 controller last night, playing AC4 Black Flag

Concerning the performance of the game, it was great. It looked great, played great, and definitely showcases the new hardware.

As for the controller, it is quite comfortable to hold, especially compared to the DS3. I thought that perhaps the face buttons could use just slightly more resistance, but again, a good improvement over its predecessor.

The touch pad functions as both a clickable button, as well as a multitouch pad. In AC4, depressing the pad brings up the map, and you can pinch to zoom in/out and move the map around by using touch. It's quite intuitive, given how much I use those functions on my iPhone. You can also use the thumbsticks to navigate the map as well.

The pad itself does not feel like glass, but is smooth and not sticky. It worked absolutely perfectly, and actually makes me kind of wish I pre-ordered a PS4 as well just for the controller.

I don't know how other games will take advantage of the touch pad, but I hope it is used in intelligent and seamless ways like how AC4 implements it.

Agreed on the ps4 pad, fits in your hand a lot nicer than the DS3 ever did. Motion pad was quite interesting too. Also got to try AC4 and it looks great, not a big leap great but noticable nevertheless. Expecting great things when they move out of the launch titles phase.

The DS3 is probably the only reason I still don't own a PS3. I really glad the DS4 is getting such good feedback, I'm looking forward to using it.

Did AC4 look/feel next-gen @aceattorney ? I'm not a massive AC fan but I'm liking all the ship and pirate stuff, I'm wondering if I should add AC4 to my list

Hey Ace. Have you played the previous AC games ? How would you rate your limited time in comparison to them ? cause AC3 was terrible and the one before wasn't great and brother hood was OK. The series seems to be in big decline, and I'm hoping this Black Flag is a return to form.

Yes it needs to be implemented for stuff such as this. A natural function for the touch pad im all for. I'm not looking forward to all the gimmicky crap that will be tried out with it though.

The DS4 is going to be awesome for sure. Still looking forward to the One's controller more but i think this is a generation where there's not much to complain about when it comes to controllers. Looks like both Sony and Microsoft nailed it.
