Splatoon Voice Chat.

Is voice chat a dealbreaker in Splatoon? Or are people just using it as an excuse.

Hi guys, been away for a long while due to a very busy time at work.

But I have been wondering, about Splatoon voice chat. Recently it has made the news that people harassed Nintendo's Splatoon facebook page about this issue. Claiming that Nintendo isn't in line with the times and all sorts of boycott schemes until they do (I know, gamers of the Xbox One and PS4 generations seem to really like kicking up a fuss and demanding apologies for supposed slights :S).

Anyhow the more I read it the more I feel double about it, I can see why voice chat would help but the very way people protest to me is proof that the developer in question is right. It seems the protesters get almost abusive when they do not get their way, and I really do wonder if they would buy it to begin with. Part of me thinks they are just seeking a stick to beat a dead horse and are keener on just harassing Nintendo and finding some excuse that they do not wish to buy something fun and colourful, than it being an actual complaint.

It just shows the actual harassment some on-line communities do, especially certain ones based on gaming in this latest generation, which ruins a wonderful fun feature like voice chat.

I mean I would love voice chat, but I rather would have liked 2 vs Online Multiplayer like Mario Kart has.

The lack of voice chat in this particular game is not a big loss. It would be nice to have but I understand Nintendo's stance on the matter. Nintendo wants to keep their online environment harassment free and non toxic. Splatoon seems like a fun party game for the kids and the last thing you want would be your kids being harassed online by some a-hole.

I'm looking right at you Z A C K!

I go either way on this. I can see why it's good, but on the other hand that's what parental controls are for. Either way the game looks great and I'd like to play it, but that's not going to happen right away, and I'm not sure how long a life this type of game will have on the Wii U.

THe thing is often parents and the computer illiterate of any age do not know what parental controls are. Consoles got more and more complex over time, and simply unplugging it and stashing it away is not a possibility any more. With this complexity also comes more problems regarding general usability.

Mario Kart 8 not having Voice Chat during races is MASSIVE let down. What were Nintendo thinking? Awful.

This went from a possible buy to no buy with no voice chat. Why does Nintendo constantly fail regarding modern online game play standards?
