Just as long as they don't do any spinoff shows. That's where they lose me. I could never really get into those.Yeah the last couple of films were kinda meh but I'm happy that they were made. And I'm sure this new show will take a couple of seasons to find a good groove, but it will find it.
Recorded it. If I like it, I'll pay the $5 for CBS all access and binge watch it.Anyone watch it tonight? I thought it was going to go a dozen different ways than the one they chose. Very unusual start to a Star Trek series. A bit clumsy and far too many tilted camera shots, but still glad to have Trek back on the air.
This is on Netflix as well. Think I'll watch the first one tonight and see how it is.
For Netflix, you have to be outside the US.

NOO!
Fine I'll do the stupid access thing for however long I need and cancel. Damn you CBS for making me sign up for more s***.
Use a proxy web on for Firefox or chrome. It allows you to change the region for Netflix. I use them all the time.
Eh, I'm a little uncomfortable with doing that. Call me old-fashioned. No judgements though, just my personal thing.
Not only does this irritate me, but it kind of feels like they are setting up this series to fail. I mean, how many people missed the pilot and have no idea about the show? How many younger people are they missing who maybe have only seen the newer movies? The whole thing kind of stinks, imo. I mean, if I had stayed a cord-cutter...I have the first episode recorded from the CBS airing. Will give it a shot and if it interests me I’ll watch the rest when I get a chance. It being a CBS streaming only show rubs me the wrong way though.
Haven't watched it yet.
Has anyone watched "the Orville" and care to compare?
Been watching a few youtube videos and what I've been seeing is kind of true, the Orville seems more like a Star Trek show than Discovery does. That's not a knock on Discovery as I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to more but it does seem to lack a lot of things that made Star Trek what it was in the past. It's much darker, grittier and lacks the sort of moral compass that drove other Star Trek series.
Some of the complaints like not liking the design of the ship are silly IMO, it's not like any star trek ship really looks all that "cool" and this one was designed with a unique purpose. I do get the complaints about the changes to how the Klingons look, the constant long subtitled conversations whenever the Klingons are on screen and also the fact that it's a prequel yet looks far more high tech than anything that supposedly came after it.
At the end of the day though it is a great sci fi show, it may not seem as "star trek" as the Orville does but it's still worth watching and people who haven't seen it should give it a shot if they are interested, just go in with an open mind.
