Opps sorry.Monk, you had your album set to only be visible to you. I changed it to registered members. You can change it to everyone if you want.
Sorry about that Plainview. Yeah registered members is fine. Thank youMonk, you had your album set to only be visible to you. I changed it to registered members. You can change it to everyone if you want.
The last one was awful, it was basically Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica thrown into a woke blender. Hopefully this time they were more concerned with the film being a good Star Wars movie and less about real world issues.
Force Awakens is my favorite Star Wars movie since the original three.I'm just worried JJ is going to go too vanilla. A carbon copy of past movies like Force Awakens. Rey will fight Kylo at the end with the backdrop being some First Order/Empire super weapon. People think they want a very safe, familiar story, but they aren't remembering Force Awakens.
Granted I have a big beef with JJ. What he did with Star Trek was just awful, yet people seem to like it.

Nah the movie had actual problems. Not SJW boogeyman problems.
I believe in JJ
It had all of it, adding an Asian female character for no other reason than "representation" and to have someone for Finn to hang out with while not doing anything that important, Leia flying in space on her own, Luke transmitting himself across the stars and then dying for no reason, Poe basically getting half of their forces killed, doing another Hoth battle only this time with bigger walkers on a desert planet, killing Snoke before we learned anything about him, taking several plot points from the previous movie and just throwing them away etc.
Characters are shallow because they are shallow, not because of their gender, ethnicity or anything else.

Benicio del Toro's character is pretty pointless but nobody complains he is only there because he is Hispanic.
I doubt most people remember he was even in it, he was another worthless character who didn't need to be in the film. BTW The reason people point out a characters ethnicity and gender when talking about the "woke" garbage is because that's mostly what the media talks about when they interview people about the character. It's all about representation "She's the first female Asian".... then you see the movie and the character has no reason to be in it. Again it's not the actresses fault, she did the best that could be done with the crap she was given and nobody would have had a problem with her being in it had she actually served a purpose other than checking a box. The whole issue is the fault of the director/writer who decided to make characters based on checking boxes first and then making them fit into the story second.
The media talking about it has nothing to do with whether the movie is good or not.
Who said it did? The character was hyped up by the media for the representation, when it turned out that she was a shallow worthless character who's storyline was crammed in, hurt the movie and took focus away from what the previous film had done it became pretty obvious that the only reason she was there was for the "woke" points It's not a huge leap, you know Kathleen Kennedy runs the show there and her comments about not owing male fans anything and "the force is female" and all of that stupid combative crap only makes it stand out even more.
This franchise had one of the strongest and most beloved female characters in movie history in Leia, people generally liked Rey in the first film in this trilogy as well, star wars fans have no problem with strong female characters, the thing they have a problem with is lazy writing, going for cheap woke cred and trying to apply stuff going on in the real world to this fantasy world that most people enjoy because it's an escape from the crap we all see in everyday life.
The whole issue is the fault of the director/writer who decided to make characters based on checking boxes first and then making them fit into the story second.
If you just cared about the writing then that is what you would be talking about.
No, it isn't. It is a bad story because it is a bad story. Finn's character has always been shallow and poor, that sequence just highlighted that. It would have been a poor story no matter what the race/gender of anyone playing it.
The problem isn't that people didn't like that part of the story (it was dumb and pointless), it is that it is all that it gets blamed on progressives.
The prequels managed to suck even worse long before Disney got hold of it. There's a reason much of the prequel stuff is cringe worth memes.
For the last time, they worked that character in at the expense of everything else, going for woke points had a negative impact on the movie. They needed a storyline for her so they took a main character from the previous film and stuck him with her, they sent them off for something stupid and it hurt the film overall. It's not the actresses fault, it's not because it's an Asian woman in the movie it's because they decided they needed the character at all. That busy work storyline they jammed in there meant they had to throw things that should have been continued from the previous movie away. When this trilogy is over it'll be the most disjointed of the bunch, they never should have let Johnson make the changes he did, Kathleen Kennedy should have been fired over it.
The curious thing about this is movie goers groan and complain about how films including Star Wars rehash the same formulaic ideas. I think even The Force Awakens was considered absurdly reminiscent of A New Hope.
So along comes Rian Johnson who tosses out the usual playbook and it completely freaks people out.
I think it's hilarous actually that Snoke just dropped off the scene early. The whole path to Hero fighting Villain then Arch-Villain is off the rails and it creates new situation we have now.
As for what I hope to happen, I wonder if the Skywalker that 'rises' is Leia. I wonder if they wanted to tease an inner connection to the Force with her surviving the space battle the way she did. This is problematic because of Carry Fisher passing away, but we don't know how much was filmed.

I honestly wondered if he was cherry picking random s*** from The Last Starfighter.
I relate to what you're saying and felt like I was fvcked with by the script. I kind of like screwball movies though and having expecations dashed beyond belief.
As for the coherence of the whole thing, I don't know what went on behind the scenes. Maybe there was a trilogy Master Plan and Johnson s*** on it. If so, then did Johnson just want to make a random movie with no sequel plan of his own or a compromise with the original?
I'm with you on Luke, though mostly because his weird attitude doesn't really square with Lor San Tekka wanting to protect his location. Probably one of the easiest ways this series rights itself is if they can booked with Tekka and explain what he knew.
But c'mon who doesn't want giant beach monster titty milk?
Doesn't seem like there was which is pretty baffling. At least with Lucas its all one vision. The vision was often pretty bad but one vision nonetheless.
Should have just thrown whatever money necessary to convince JJ Abrams or whoever to do them all
