So this game is a mess on all platforms. lol EA/Respawn
It is funny. Performance and resolution in the toilet because they refuse to remove RT for performance, but I bet they removed it from Series S and PC has the RT on/off option. So why the stubbornness on PS5/XSX is mind boggling.

To be honest, the RT in Fortnite on Series S looks so much better.

Anectodal but interesting to see. Significantly more copies for PS5 vs Xbox at least at this store.

I did quality mode until I ran into a Rancor. I was a little under leveled, and even though performance isn’t great the extra responsiveness helped quite a bit in getting through it. Stayed with performance ever since.

One thing annoying that I'm noticing is if I die to a creature, respawn and kill it, I don't think I'm getting my stuff back. I can look on the map and see my player death spot.

Isn't there a glowing spot you have to walk through to get it?

Played a couple of hours on XSX in quality mode, no film grain or motion blur enabled and I honestly can't say I noticed it running bad...quite the opposite, I had no problem counter blocking and didn't notice any fps drops 🤷‍♂️
I haven't had any framerate issues so far on PS5 in quality mode either but the freaking HDR still isn't fixed lol.

For bosses, yes. Otherwise, you have to kill the enemy that killed you.
Ah ok, I only died with a boss so I wasn't sure. I only finished the first area and had to stop, probably won't play again until tomorrow night.

Digital Foundry found that the Xbox and PS5 native resolution for this game is under 1080p for the 30fps RESOLUTION mode and under 720p for the sub 60fps performance mode.

I'm really shocked at how many times the PS5 outperforms the Xbox Series X, especially considering that it was actually meant to come out a year before the XSX and got pushed back. It's amazing how Mark Cerny is able to beat out Microsoft with less resources.

I'm mean this is a poorly optimized game. I wouldn't necessarily say this proves anything really.

It drops to 648p. Much like 95% of the games where PS5 has a FPS advantage, Series X typically has a resolution advantage.

Exactly, it proves nothing other than the game is a turd.

I saw that the performance on the PC improved with Ray Tracing off, but I know you didn't pay all that money for a 4090 just to play the game without Ray Tracing. :really:

For me, I have sub console level hardware, an RX 6600 and a Ryzen 5600. I expected to be able to run games at 1080p medium-high at 60-80fps but if the game can't run at a base resolution of 1080p at 30fps on the XSX and PS5 then I'm in trouble moving forward.

es where PS5 has a FPS advantage, Series X typically has a resolution advantage.

It seems like the PS5 is at least holding it's own, in general. Maybe it's just my perception since I don't follow every console release that closely. Are they just pointing out the games where the PS5 outperforms the XSX and not talking about the games where the XSX performs better?

It seems about 50/50. But typically, the PS5 is the lead platform.

What's the benefit of gardening in this game?

No, PS5 is definitely holding its own. I'd say overall it has probably done better in third party performance/quality, but it has been very close. Recently PS5 has done better, though Dead Space was slightly better on Series X and RE4 Remake was running at a substantially higher resolution in performance mode on Series X at launch. It's really hard to say because every game is patched so much now and typically the tech analysts don't revisit titles.
