Taken King Reveal

I planning on waiting until a few weeks after taken king comes out to determined if I should get it but the year 2 news seems promising I may just pre order Taken King after all. I still don't trust bungie after all the bulls***.

No. I am not giving it up. We should not have to use LFG. There is too much money being put into this game for it to be so barren with content number one and matchmaking options which other games with less money like free to play games have better matchmaking options. It is a freaking disgrace.

I use LFG often but that is not the point.

I agree with you. It just feels like its never going to happen. I've heard the argument and even made it myself on occasion of not wanting to do a raid with a pick up group. But that's what we are doing with LFG essentially. I've been on some stinky teams formed from LFG but that's the only resource available without a lot of friends who play this game.

Matchmaking would be good. Like you said, LFG isn't necessarily any better.

What I would love to see is matchmaking but require a mic for the higher level stuff. At least force people to at least plug it in to hear you.

I'm tempted to get this, but too many games this fall...

Worth every penny. And you know why? Cos it's hammer time. That's why!! :bang:

I'm pretty excited about the new changes shown in that stream. Also, SWORD SWORD SWORD SWORD!

I really like how XP actually levels you up all the way now like every other game on the planet. It always seemed silly to "waste" XP when I got it if I didn't have any weapons to upgrade.

You know it hasn't really changed anything though, right? Light level is still needed to participate in missions, strikes, end game, etc. I am not even sure if the character level is even needed.

A lot of the supposed changes are really superficial. Light level and XP level makes no difference. The bounty changes are not really big things, they are mostly changes of presentation.

To be honest, I am struggling to find one truly meaningful change to the fundamental game.

It is exactly the same as year one but they simply changed the presentation and tweaked some of the reward systems.

Sure, gear itself is always key and level often means a lot less (I was 32 with blue weapons for awhile, now I have exotics and purples - I'm now at a totally different "level")

Still though I like the idea that a little bit of XP will move my level up even a tiny bit. It is really probably just more perception, but it is nice to know that XP isn't being wasted.

Now I am stuck at 32 and my level hasn't moved in ages since I haven't gotten the stuff needed to get 34. At least now I can hit 40 even if I am lacking in gear.

But it will be wasted once you are capped out. How long that will actually take is a question that still needs to be answered, but in the end it will stop making a difference.

I am not sure why the level cap is so low. It made sense when I thought they would start everybody at 20, but an increase of only 6 levels seem very low when 90% of the player base will be 34 from the get go.

Yeah, I'm kind of guessing that it is going to take a lot of XP to get to 40. You'd think they'd want to keep people grinding for stuff without getting frustrated. Just giving people an arbitrary number is usually enough to keep us going :)

Its not about player levels. Its about gear/weapons. I’ll grind an ungodly amount of hours for something I think will be worth the effort. I’ve spent hours on the Atheon/Crota fights when they first came out before the strategies most use now were formed. I did the same thing for the Skolas fight with and without the burns. Level is only a means to give me the opportunity to participate in a event that might grant me something cool. And I think at its core that’s what Destiny is all about. Its not about your base level or light level. Its about the pursuit of the ohh so sweet loot. For me anyway.

You will know of the meaningful change when I acquire my first sword, find a way to invade your game, and assassinate your character for your many blasphemies against the Traveler's one true game.

That is ill advised son. My Nightstalker will tie you up, while my shotguns F's you up:grin:

Did you redesign Gjallarhorn?
Gjallarhorn will remain a Year One Exotic at Year One levels

That explains why Bungie made it available through Xur.

Eh. Where did that come from ? In the video reveal they showed gallahorn in the exotic list that was upgradable to year two.

Its stated in the weekly update in the Bungie site. I guess it makes sense since they want to encourage the use of other heavy weapons. It should still be useful especially with solar burn.

Yeah. Just read it. That sucks. And rumours are ice breaker is getting left behind as well. To be honest it's really taking some of the fun of the game for me.

I hope Red Death, Vex Rifle and Hard Light are carried over. Hell, I'd like to check out the Necrocasm if its rumored buff goes through but if it stays at year 1 levels it will remain my least used exotic that took the longest to acquire. Honestly I don't know why Bungie is being so heavy handed with taking away player choice on what they want to use.

Vex, nercochasm, and Hardlight will not have year 2 version at least not at first. Red Death will have a version 2.

I really can not believe they decided to leave the Vex behind. That is a trophy weapon. It should absolutely be carried all the way through the game with you.

I am sure somebody thinks that about every exotic though.

but yeah, I am not not too sure why all exotics didn't carry over.
