It was a welcome surprise to see a new event after the reset this morning. For those that don't know what the Iron Banner event is-

Played a few matches this morning. Its pretty hardcore. I wouldn't recommend even bothering if you are below level 25. I have a fully upgraded 77 Wizard fusion rifle. I hit a titan with full health and overshield from around 20 yards away and wiped him out with one shot. I normally don't use it in the Crucible, because its range is nerfed, and it has a slow charge rate. In the Iron Banner though, it appears to be a beast. It might as well have been a rocket that I hit the guy with.
 
Iron banner uses all your bonuses from your unlocks, right?
 
Oh, does it? Damn, I thought it was still balanced, I was using my atheon's epilogue and crappier armour gear to level up. :laugh:

True. But if you win iron banner, you get +25 rep whereas in crucible you only get +3 if you win and +2 if you lose. So unless you win 8 matches in a row, it kind of balances out. I've only won once though so I'm not sure if it's +25 each time or just the first time.

I'm almost done the earn 10,000 XP bounty in just 3 matches, that gives me +75 rep. Then I won a match before so that already me 25. So just after one match or so, I'll be rank 1 already. Hopefully they give the same bounty again each day. What I don't know is how much reps you need in between rank 2 and 3 though.

You need 1200 to 2 so probably too much

I think its 1200 to 2, and 2400 to 3. When you reach 2 you buy/equip the IB class item and get 10% more rep for bounties and wins.
 
Interesting that it turned out level advantages don't really matter. Nice work Bungie

What's the IB Class item? I can't find it. I only bought the shader and emblem.
 
if you guys get to rank 3, you can buy legendaries for 10 marks and break them down to get crafting mats.
 
I'm not ready for this. I'm at lvl25 but only have one piece of legendary gear so I'll get slaughtered. :laugh:
