Everyone think they have the facts. just take everything people said as opinion, unless they provide proof.Pro tip: anyone pushing the "facts are hard" narrative are trying to get you to ignore the facts.

the sad truth is, most people are easy to manipulate. People will believe what they want to hear, and disbelieve what they dislike. Which is why lies are so rampage on social media, Internet hivemind like Reddit and twitter and media.
Remember the first point I made. Everyone think they have the facts. This also apply to them thinking the sources where they get the „facts“ are facts.Facts aren't hard. People who get misinformation choose to live in a bubble. It is willful ignorance.
What happens is a lot less about lies and more about filters. People filter the facts to make things seem lopsided. Social media is a filter and people use it to ignore the things they don't like.
Crazy soulless ginger telling others not to believe what objective media, morally superior celebrities, have our best interest at heart politicians & experts (You know they are expert because they said they believe in science), but instead listen to your guts & make up your own mind, & not other be control of your life & thoughts.
Sorry, I will stick to listening to the authority of people who know better than me and have my best interests. I will not be crazy overthinking each action with controversial toxic methods like rationality, common sense, talking to real people, & form the ridiculous idea that most people are decent, opposing the truth people better than me told me.

I have study indoctrination and influence for the past 5 years in my free Time, and the I can tell you the misinformation, and lies spreading around are massive. i used to think I am too smart to be lied too, and smart People don’t believe lies easily. I was wrong. Smart people are just better at convincing themselves of the things they want to be „facts„. Just look at the console vs thread.
If you disagree, I have one word „ religion“. Do you believe there are smart people from every major faith. Fair point right?
Yet These very smart people are convinced that their religion ( which is often geo centric) is the true one. But they cannot all be true since the religions contradict in their belief.
Problem with the logic of just listening to your gut instincts is that our gut instincts can be biased and lead really bad decisions. This can be tested really quickly by playing the stock market with only your "instincts". Not that instincts are bad but untrained ones most definitely are so just a blanket statement of trusting of ones gut and instincts is reckless.
An easy way to understand Gut Instincts is to go shopping at the store while you're hungry.
News are okay when there isn’t a ideological and political frame to it, like some random death in some random countries. I made a joke but it’s also sadly true is what make the Headline news ain‘t so much about severity or importance of a news, but the clickbaitness of it, or they fit the agenda. Journalists have widely become activists. You can be an activist ( by all means) or a journalist, but you cannot be both at same time. the people who supposed to give us news and information cannot be the same people that promote an agenda. You cannot be a Car reviewer and work for mercedes ( does this make sense).I think specific cases need to be represented when discussing misinformation and lies. When there is a tragic event like a fire or hurricane, the media overall is fine with these events except for maybe over coverage. If its the economy, then they have been historically more reticent to be critical of wall street and big business, leaving out important information people should hear.
I know what you mean. There is a position between the extreme end of believing everything and not believing everything.Problem with the logic of just listening to your gut instincts is that our gut instincts can be biased and lead really bad decisions. And this video is obviously referring in context to covid without saying it is, which is allowing him to give off what may come off insightful thoughts to those who handover agency of thier will very easily. All those things sound good, like if I say driving my car 100mph is hella fun why should I not do that? But don't give the context of a busy street verses a race track, one of these is a bad idea the other isn't. Going outside is great, no one will argue that who is rational but going outside and getting in the face of someone who is high risk right now is not a good idea.

People believe everything he did is good is no different than people who think everything he does is bad. It's just a different side of ignorance. Politics & religion are interchangeable these days. They think they are right & others are dumb or ignorant. We have free will so the choices are our own. People choose faith. When a politician who has an affair with a porn star says "I'm chosen by God" people choose to believe that.
That's willful ignorance. They aren't manipulated (for the most part) they choose their path.
I agree, but finding facts is not as easy as said, as Astroturf is an art form that has weaponized. You can hear how Astroturf works in this video.Yea money in politics is a problem and journalism that relies on advertising are both big problems because of the biases they create. This is also a problem with influencers over social media because either they receive free loot from companies or they grift with clickbait or having diametrically opposing views to claim they have sacred knowledge. People need to harden and do thier own research as much as possible to overcome these issues but like especially here in America we live in such a workaholic society its hard to find the time to be informed.

Fair points.Understanding what you don't know is just as important as what you do know. In a situation like that, I would know that I don't know everything, and make a decision based on that.
Seeing conflicting information is a fact in itself. Contradictory information is a fact, that shows someone is lying or wrong.
