The Official Huck It Chuck It Football 2023-2024 Thread

So at the next owners' meetings, I presume we'll see a 30-2 vote in favor of a rule change allowing teams to change into Bengals jerseys at halftime, which gives Kansas City a shot at the #1 pick (I'd say it's a given but they'll be playing the AFC South and no amount of uniform magic will allow the Texans and Jaguars to score enough empty net goals to overcome the first half deficit).

So now the Broncos are for sale and since Brady has retired, the refs are on the market again too. Meanwhile, I think I just got invited to interview for the Jaguars job, but I almost missed it because it hit my spam folder. What a flustercluck.

Well at least the Jags aren't offering coaches bounties to lose games

Baalke strikes again. Be funny if Harbaugh came in and was like, "Listen, fire this mother f***er and I'll even take the job lolz" and Shad and AEW wouldn't budge.

Yeah, why ruin your integrity by paying coaches to lose when you can do it the good, old-fashioned way by just being terrible in every way.

"Sorry, Jim, you seem like a great candidate but in speaking with our current management, they insisted that we speak to your supervisor at your previous NFL position and apparently he gave you a strong do not hire."

So who's even on the horizon at this point? Somebody is going to want the job obviously, there's a lot to like about the Jags......minus an extremely important part in the GM. The Khan's can't be so ignorant here, they held onto Coughlin for way too long and are just doing it again.

Being loyal and having patience is a virtue, but god damn one winning season in like 15 years is just depressing.

They held onto Coughlin, Dave Caldwell, arguably Marrone, Gus Bradley, Gene Smith and of course Bortles way too long. It's a pattern here, which is why it was shocking that they did bail on Urban so quickly.

I think right now the hope is something like Spielman coming in as something and Pederson as HC. If Spielman is in an EVP type role where he oversees Baalke, that might work, if he fires the numpty fartgoblin as soon as possible.

Well, we have Pederson at least now and the rumor is they may be getting Spielman in as well. If they just put Spielman in the role they created for Coughlin back then, that's a win. I have zero confidence in Shad Khan's evaluation of staff or running a hiring process (see: this last month), but having a guy in charge of football stuff that's not a total bag of fartmist would be tremendous.

Pederson is a good coach, think Lawrence is about to take some big steps. Get some receivers and ya'll could surprise

Sports radio has been interesting last week. I mean we’ve all known some college and NFL football were racists f***s, but to hear owners telling coaches to tank while owners and the leagues get involved in gambling sites is ridiculous. I feel bad for Pete Rose I bet he like what the hell lol.

Lol at the Texans zeroing in on their top two choices of Josh "I've never coached in the NFL at even the lowest level" McCown and Lovie "I'm too old for this s***" Smith

High five hrudey

You know, it's almost like Mahomes and Josh Allen in our division, except that it's the Jaguars and the Texans and whoever has the ball last will be the bigger s***show. We bungled our way into a good coaching decision somehow, so the Texans are about to get a walkoff score.

Texans continue to be a dumpster fire. All the local radio shows are killing them.

I think Lovie is a good coach at least though. He got to a super bowl with Rex Grossman then got saddled with the Anti-Tom Brady, Jay Cutler.

IDK how much stock to put into this, since NFL and College are such different beasts, but he was not great at Illinois
