If you caught the Bungie channel broadcast earlier today you got a first look at The Prison of Elders co-op PvE activity coming May 19th with the House of Wolves Expansion. The Winters Run strike(Arkon Priest) on Venus makes mention of The Prison of Elders, and in this dlc addition we get to go there and fight its prisoners.

I noticed that there will be 4 available activities. One that can be done over and over for loot(lvl28 I think). Then 3 that are weekly events(lvls 32, 34, 35 I think).

After adding matchmaking to the Heroic Strike and the mostly bad experiences I’ve had with that. I’m completely fine now with no matchmaking for the more difficult activities. I’m very familiar with Destiny LFG and will just continue to use that. The quality of players from that site has been excellent. There are varying degrees of skill but almost always has gamers who will communicate and explain things to the those who need it.

The Prison of Elders looks like it will be fun while offering up a challenge. I mean, Horde Mode with mission modifiers and objectives sounds awesome to me. It looks like Red Death and Suros will come in handy as well when the enemies rush the team. Ehhh, Gjally solves most problems in this game too. The new Shadow Thief Strike looks like fun.

My guardians are ready for House of Wolves. Somehow someway I will tap that booty of the queen. She is mine. You guys can't have her.

Let me know if any of you guys need another to fill your fireteam for Prison of Elders. Destinylfg is always a option but I'd rather play with you guys. All three of my Guardians are at level 32 with an assortment of maxed weapons.

Please, I've seen your dance moves after a strike. You don't stand a chance...

screw 35 on void. took 3hrs and nothing to show for it. f***.
I was lucky enough to get in with a group already at Skolas this week. We beat him our second try. Last week it was Arc Burn. That had to be worse than this week.

Jumped into a Skolas "checkpoint" last night...still took 3hrs. He teleports so damn often our gally's would just explode.

I find sniping to be the best way to quickly take Skolas down. Headshots stun him and keep him from teleporting. All three of us used Black Hammer and then finished him off with Gally when we ran out of sniper ammo. The Prison really needs checkpoints at least on the Boss wave.

Yeah, if you have atleast 2 people sniping stun locking him happens faster than just straight Gjallys. Ran into a few groups this week that refused to use snipers, most of the time it failed. Got through it twice with Zed using straight Gjallys if I remember correctly. Zed knew where to place his bubble though. Tried to pass that information onto a couple other random Titans, but they whined about it, thus leading to wasted time with no reward.

So, Bungie changed the Skolas fight and its still a pain but fair. No burn means we can't kill him in seconds anymore. That's cool, doing it that way was no fun. But I think Bungie also removed stunning him when sniping. He just keeps on walking towards you no matter how many headshots you get. So now the fight has to proceed as intended which I'm cool with. As long as you communicate essence countdown and maintain control over the mobs its not too had. Also, a team with all three classes is the best with the hunter going invisible for the mines while the titan has the bubble which is also useful for mines and the warlock has its self rez for emergencies.

My only problem now is with the reward system. If everything goes right the Skolas fight will still take quite a while. And the rewards just don't seem to match the difficulty. I have most of the queens weapons and they suck. I would love to grind out the prison for Confluence, Fatebringer, Mythoclast, Word of Crota tier weapons. I've seen a couple teammates gets elemental primaries from Skolas but they don't seem all that great compared to what I have. It just seems like most of the really good weapons are in the Trials pvp mode and most of those will be out of my reach due to having to get 9 wins in a row which will probably never happen for me.
