I was ready to go back to work on Monday, but there is a surge of pain yesterday on my knee, & I have to take a painkiller before I can get myself to walk to the doctor. SO the doctor give my an additional 1 week off.

But this morning, I am feeling much better, & actually quite okay for work, as long as I limit walking. I feel bad, & thinking to return to work to get my work laptop to work at home, but I am not sure if it is allowed. I think the company can get to trouble if you work when you are on medical leave.

But maybe I should just focus on getting fit.

Above all take care of yourself m8....maybe binge some shows whilst working out at home, maybe work on your core. Wait, can you work out in your current state?

That sucks, what did the doctor (except put you on leave) say you should do and what is the reason for the pain?

I hate how idiots would rather risk their lives and cut over lanes instead of just being patient and waiting for the f***er in front of them to turn.

stop moving too much. There is a follow up by the specialist in about 4 weeks.

Probably not. Not on the knee at least. other areas probably yes.

They'll pay for it someday, somehow. These people take risks in every part of their life, luck runs out eventually. Just hope you're not involved in it when it happens.

Years ago I was driving on interstate 10 going through a big city in Texas when at the last second a work van cut across three lanes of traffic to make a exit making me slam on my breaks swerving into the shoulder to miss hitting them. Luckily I was paying attention or we would have slammed into them.

I've watched many movies and such (like fear the walking dead recently) where they drive trucks over states and such. It seems to be a kind of culture in amerika. Also think a few here are truckers? Question; do truckers make lots of money and is it good job? How do the general population feel about these truckers?

There are a lot of trucks in Germany, because of a lot of countries use Germany as a pass by country, due to toll-free & half decent roads, also being center of Europe.

Most truckers are well behaved though & stick to the outer lane and 100km/h limit. But sometimes, some trucks are too slow, & another truck need to overtake another in 2 lane Autobahn, & we call it elephant racing, as it took forever. Imagine a truck trying to overtake another at 100km/h when the other is at 90km/h.

Yesterday, driving home, a lady was going slow and swerving a bit in front of me. Of course, I hammered my horn. I gave her a death stare as I go by. She's on her phone, holding it by using her shoulder to hold it. She also has a coffee in the same hand. I shake my head at her. She proceeds to attempt to drive me off the road. It's times like that that makes me wish I had a dashcam.

Well, I'm a truck driver for now. I got into it after the Recession and I feel I got stuck in the industry. It's hard to translate the skills to other jobs without a drop in pay. I did local work last year, now I moved south to do Southeast Regional long haul.

It is sort of cool to drive such a large vehicle, but the hours really suck. You can potentially make good money if you get into specialized areas like the Oil Fields in Texas or North Dakota. Those all require Tanker experience. In some cases, Tanker Chemical haulers do well.

I think there is a general negative view of Trucker or Semitrucks. Some of this is deserved as even I think most of the older veteran truckers and know it all a******s. I hate to say, but I actively avoid being in the company of Old Timers if I have a choice.

Aside from the drivers, I sometimes wonder how the perception is of the Trucks in film or TV. They often seem associated with massive destruction or driven by villain characters; MAD MAX being a notable exception or perhaps even Optimus Prime.

I confess I do really like the picture of trucks wrecking mayhem. I think they often represent the brutal, unstoppable force in movies that they want associated with the driver.
Also, terminator 2 = best action movie ever created.

Even I like them, though I'm very partial to the War Rig in Mad Max.

I think back in the day, big trucks were seen in a more positive like in film. I wonder if over time, increased traffic congestion has made people more resentful of trucks and it seems like there are more and more trucks on the road.

My other random thought on this is all the time while doing this, I often wonder if American transportation depending so heavily on highways was a big mistake. I sometimes wonder if we'd be better off with a more extensive Railroad system.

I also think cars used to represent freedom, but not people hate driving and that is one reason the fidget with Smartphones.

Randy (Josh Meyers) made the last season of That 70's Show unwatchable. What an unfunny piece of crap.

Yeah, it's against the law to use your phone while driving here, passed the law just a few months ago. I do feel a good road trip with family or/and friends are among the best pleasures in summer, but the good times obviously isn't in rush hour traffic but on big, long stretches of road with small towns every 100km or so.
I'd like to drive a truck, but have no friends who are truckers.
Also, would love to road trip in the amerikas.

Dashcam is illegal in Germany. Only Info.

I hate people who drive & use their cell. Can't they wait a little?

Finally, manage with help of a friend to load my winter wheels into my car ( I wasn't able to do it myself due to my knee, & the wheels are in the basement) & swap to proper winter tires, just for the first (suppose) major snowfall in the weekend. WInter has been pretty tame so far, not that it matters as I am mostly at home.

I've seen enough video on r/roadcam to agree on having a dashcam. I don't have one yet mainly do to laziness. It's honestly not that expensive. One of more often suggested models is only about $100.

You're German?
By that you mean I am not funny, unfriendly and have a beer tummy?

Nope. I was born in tropical nation of Singapore of unfunny people before moving here to another land of unfunny people, in adulthood, as automotive engineer, and still is. While being part time Indie game dev & armchair football critic aspiring comedian.
