The Wrestling Topic

Wrestling, as a whole, has been terrible for years. I do, at least, find AEW semi-watchable. They really need to stop with the hundreds of close counts that ever match has.

NXT is still really good.....well at least Takeovers generally are. I'd say that's number one for me, but I don't keep up with the actual product.

Agree that there are too many too close finishes and people kicking out of multiple finishers is a bit ridiculous.

Really good? It's the best in WWE programming but is losing It's appeal week after week.

The Takeovers are usually on point though.

Don't personally really care all that much, but back when Smackdown rebooted to a live show on Tuesdays her gimmick of never actually wrestling was handled great. Hell, that whole transitional stage of Smackdown was awesome, probably the height of my fandom in the last 7 years when I started watching again

AEW production s*** the bed again with a big finish
I didn't start watching until Jericho entered due to other obligations, but man it was hard to watch that match. Too much blood. I thought that one of the FTR guys was legit about to die, and then MJF was bloodied to all hell as well.

Didn't care too much about the cardboard effect, it's whatever. The ending of the match was dumb though, Ortiz and Santana were climbing the cage, they could have done something with that. Very obvious that MJF was still gonna toss Dad Rocker to the stands, and it also was very obvious that it was a stunt area when they panned over it with the camera.

Waits for those numbers...

NXT May 4: 761,000 / .18

Will update when AEW's numbers drop today.
They were back down to 800k or so last week weren't they? pretty much what they were when NXT was still on the same night. This show has to keep stunt casting to even sniff a million viewers. Shaq, Mike Tyson etc they can't do it with the roster they have which is sad because they have some good people there the f***er in charge just doesn't know what he's doing.

Just saw that, it was hilarious! landing on cardboard and an obvious crash pad? That was pathetic, what a terrible "stunt" I mean even when Rikishi went off of HIAC into a truck the crash pad was covered with hay so it kind of hid it and when Shane went off of the top and missed the elbow the table was hiding the crash pad but this thing? This is so amateurish it's sad.

1.09 million viewers tuned into AEW Dynamite last night, as averaged across two hours.

And last week was only 800 thousand and change but two weeks before that and the week before that it was back to back over 1 million viewers.

Yeah because they had Mike Tyson on the weeks prior and and this was a PPV style match given away for free, when they don't have a gimmick they will be in the 800k range and if their gimmicks keep coming off as badly as "Blood and Guts brought to you by Sit 'N Sleep" it'll just keep getting worse. I'm surprised Jericho didn't scream "We'll beat any advertised price or your mattress is FREEEE" on the way down. Maybe that's only a So Cal store but it still fits lol and yes I know it's a crash pad not a mattress but that fall looked so weak and soft, they need to do something about their terrible production values on that show.

they were low last week cause there was a biden conference or something, dominated TV ratings. DVR numbers were record high for AEW

i think they will get 900k-1.2m consistently without NXT. incredible for a year old promotion, even if they were at 700k its likely good enough numbers to keep TNT happy

AEW is likely going to stick around 800-900, this stunt booking they are doing is going to get old and the total lack of production values for their "big moments" is going to kill any hype they get. That Jericho fall was one of the worst things I've seen in a long time, they could have at least pulled the camera back and had some kind of sound effect but instead they did the amateurish thing and focused right in on the matt and the plywood/cardboard and showed it over and over. There was no impact on that fall at all but they had to keep pretending his back was broken, it was just sad. I feel bad for Jim Ross, I know he's trying to help them out and getting paid well to do it but they have to be ignoring a lot of what he says.

The Biden address to congress was the lowest rated address of it's kind since 1993, what's a record for AEW dvr ratings? I can't find any actual news on that, I've checked a few places and nobody mentions it that I can find.

Has there ever been a worse wrestler with his pathetic persona and scrawny build?
He MUST know where Vince burried the bodies for him to be keeping him around.

Yeah sorry but he's completely s***.
I strongly disagree with you on this lol. I've always loved Sami since his early days on NXT, in fact he's one of the biggest reasons I got back into wrestling as a whole.

They f***ed up so bad by not putting a belt on him after he beat KO as a pure baby face. I don't watch week to week or anything anymore, but his conspiracy gimmick was fun in my opinion. Also his mannerisms in matches and what not are top tier. Go back and watch Elimination Chamber for example.

I understand not being into him, but I'll never give up and John Cena would be proud of me for that.

On a different topic, Reigns new theme song is so much better than the Shield stuff they made him keep using.

Sami has been wasted. The guy is a great wrestler who really understands the business.
