The game is due out in a little bit over 2 weeks is anybody exited?! not alot of buzz around here for this game. I was on the fence till about a week ago ... Started watchin some gameplay vids and it looked pretty good, one thing that put me off @ first was that it seemed dumbed down to today standards like the Batman AC view stuff going on. I hate having that sort of ability in games it makes me use it too much and try to spot guards around corners before i make my next move, it somehow (for me) breaks the whole game and makes one rely to much on it. This new IGN vid released today has me really realy exited for the game now. I can't wait

I bought the master edition simply because with pre-order deals through GMG it ended up costing me under $36. I figure it would have to be a really terrible game to not be worth $36 and from what I've seen in video previews it's a more realistic looking DIshonored, which is fine by me as I love Dishonored.

Lots of AMD Gold vouchers around for sale i got mine for $10 which includes Thief and 2 more games of your choice.

So fast. Damn, I still have my backlog of 360 games to play.

Damn, I forgot about that. I did that with Batman Origins and it didn't even occur to me to see if there was one for thief.

No big tho, I didn't actually pay for it, it was a bday gift from my brother.

Wow, did not know about the old school mode. That is really nice. I just hope the game is balanced for that.

You can pre-load now on steam. The damn game is 19.7 GB. Hopefully that means it's either exceedingly gorgeous, has a long story or both.

Getting a little geeked here. I've never played a thief title but from what I'm seeing I should thoroughly enjoy it.

If Deus Ex:HR, their last game, is any indication, then I expect a beefy game, with good balance whether you choose steath/no kill or lethal. Dishonored, as good a game as it is, is lean much more towards lethal, as the tools for going lethal is far more. Also its very relience on Blink(teleport).

Thats why I like Deus Ex.HR so much, as there are more tools for non lethal playthough, & more ways to getting around. You need to use a number of skills, instead of limited to a few key skills.

Playing low chaos for the Knife of Dunwall now, & 90% of time I use only Blink (teleport) & choke. But if I choose lethal, there are so much more options.

The one think I feel sadden is I do not think I will get a PS4 anytime soon, to play the game. Maybe I will get it on my PC instead.

I'm going to wait on this one, but will pick it up eventually. Looks like it is going to be a good game.

Gonna pick this up after Titanfall. Dues Ex was awesome and this looks like it going to have some elements from that.

Supposedly the AI is terrible in this game.. the game leaked and people were streaming it live.. running around jumping with no AI reactions.. AI spots you, walks up to you, then forgets you are there, etc.

Will wait and see. Loved old thief games. Probably gonna get it on summer sale or something.

Damn ... I will still give it a go on hardest diff, and why do people always goof around in these games?! Just play it how it supposed to be played

Old school is cool, but I think I have past the stage (or age) to feel the need for extra challenge in a game. Mostly ok, but I will surely not play a game that I have to restart from start of mission if I died, or feel like doing from the start if I do something wrong.

I MUCH prefer games I can save when I wanted, or at least not far from where I last left off.

Well I'd assume they probably were playing it correct and then made a mistake and realized it didn't have any consequences. At that point, it kind of takes a lot of the fun out of it IMO. Hopefully it won't be as bad as some people are saying though, guess we'll see.

Yeah, I'll be pretty bummed if it's as bad as it sounds. I'm quite looking forward to this game. Hopefully, if it is as bad as it sounds they can fix it with a patch.

Thief delays support for AMD’s “groundbreaking” Mantle API days before launch

Just a few days before it releases Thief, developer Eidos Montreal has announced that the PC version of the game will not support AMD’s “groundbreaking” Mantle graphics API.

Mantle is AMD’s alternative to Microsoft’s DirectX, which aims to greatly improve graphical performance on compatible games and AMD Radeon graphics cards. Thief was going to be one of the first games to take advantage of it.

“We’re extremely proud of the work we've done with AMD to make the PC version of Thief a stand-out, definitive experience although we have a little more work to do to accommodate all of these new PC-specific features,” Eidos Montreal said on its website.

The company said it’s working on a patch to support AMD’s Mantle and TrueAudio, which improves audio with certain AMD Radeon GPUs.

The patch is scheduled to release in March. If you own an AMD Radeon card that supports Mantle, you’ll still be able to run Thief, just without the promised performance boost.

“We’re confident this patch will ensure the best and fastest Thief experience for AMD Radeon customers," Eidos Montreal said. "We’re sorry we couldn't bring this to you sooner – although we will use this time to bring you the very best experience possible and will let you know when the patch is ready.”

Star Citizen, Sniper Elite 3, and Battlefield 4 are some of the few games that support Mantle. “It is a major change and improvement to how we are able to program and use modern GPUs in order to get the most out of them," DICE technical director Johan Andersson said.

"Battlefield 4 on PC is already quite heavily optimized using DirectX 11 and DirectX 11.1, but with Mantle we are able to go even further: we've significantly reduced CPU cost in our rendering, efficiently parallelized it over multiple CPU cores and reduced overhead in many areas."

The game's art technical director Jean-Normand Bucci previously said that Thief will look better on the PC than on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. He explained that while Thief for the new systems from Microsoft and Sony will deliver "much more" than what console gamers have come to expect, the PC version will go even further.

Definitely excited for this game, especially with all the options you can turn off or on to customize how you want to play. And developed by Eidos you can pretty much bet your left nut the level design will be top notch. Dishonored was a good warm up for this.

Since xbox one & PS4 runs on AMD Graphics cards, does it means Mantle can be used, theortically. I heard it produce performace gain of up to 45% over directx.

Yep. mediocre to average seems to be the general impressions of the game. I was passing on this anyway but at least it seems I won't be missing much.

Now I"m bummed. The first game in many, many years that I pre-purchased that wasn't part of an established franchise that I personally enjoy and it's not looking good. =/

I never let a review stop me from buying a game or watching a movie
what a reviewers taste might be different from mine
and what he likes I may hate and visa versa

I bought this game and will let you know how I like it

I have no choice, I already bought the game and pre-loaded it.

A negative review doesn't necessarily stop me from buying a game, but when that negative review contains things like bad A.I. that's when I start to get bummed.

But as I said, I already own the game, so tomorrow first chance I get I'll play it and if it's really bad then lesson learned.

Same here, when it comes to performance, I think that's where reviews from multiple sources play a role. Otherwise, I'm pretty much decided on whether I'm buying a game or not when I see trailers and gameplay vids. I find that it's pretty easy to get a general feel for how a game will play.
