This is probably more for me than anything, but I figured I would share it. I plan to read and monitor rumors (like I always have). But I always wanted to see which "insiders" or "leakers" were legit. I plan to track them with this spreadsheet that way I know who is LEGIT and who should QUIT. I plan to update this daily (weekends can be slow) as rumors are released.

I see almost no way they make it cross gen. They wanna sell systems right? There's your game.
I could see it if the game was scheduled to come out within a few months of the PS5 release, but this one is surely a year out so come on.

I agree it's unlikely to be cross gen, but I don't think wanting to sell systems has any influence on anything right now what with them selling every system they can get out to market.

I said this before ( & to be fair, who doesn't see this coming). If gamepass becomes highly successful, other companies will want something similar to after the success of Netflix. Free market competition is good as long as not too many games locked like TV shows on streaming services.

Insider ImaHeroToo: About Sega & Square Projects (FF7R runs on Switch 2 devkit)

Sega
  • Another Sonic is coming next year, along with Jet Set, Comix Zone and a new Guardian Heroes (not sure on the date for that one)
  • Persona 6 is a bit further away than last time I updated. I don't think it's making 2024 (original plan was reveal last winter)
  • Main theme of P6 is "black and white", some parts still look Green in the gills, I'm waiting on other leakers before the floodgates open
  • There is another Persona game yet to be revealed, I'll finally say it's a party game
  • Switch 2 devkits have been here a while, I can verify it is backwards compatible with a few games tested. New cartridge. New camera feature.

Square
  • FF9 remake WAS summer 2024, not sure about that anymore, game needs some polishing, that's about it
  • X remake/X3 has a skeleton crew, it is NOT making it's anniversary
  • Square has new PS5 devkits, we're assuming these are the "Pro" but I could be wrong
  • FF7R looks and runs like a PS5 game on Switch 2 devkit. Port took no time I'm told. Could be a launch game, not sure.

^this would have been a waste of my time had I actually followed through with it.

With Xbox, I've heard from a very prominent company and one not so prominent that Xbox's performance in Europe is flatlining. You can follow our monthly coverage in the games market and you can see Xbox's sales are falling and it's fell all throughout last year and it's falling even harder this year.

The major company who released a big game last year said they don't know why they bother supporting it. We've mentioned in a previous podcast that retailers are considering or have began cutting back Xbox stock on their shelves, hardware & games... and now you've got third-party publishers going: "We're putting a lot of effort into creating an Xbox Series S/X version of a game where to be honest with you the market for us is PC and PS5"

And with Xbox putting some of the games on PS5, I understand the majority of them will be coming across at some point, assuming, you know, it progresses as Xbox believes it probably will. I think Xbox is in real trouble as a hardware manufacturer. And that was the thing that came out of GDC for me, because I always just thought, I've always been of the belief that it is the Game Pass delivery system, it's got a good UI, it's got a good controller, if you like Xbox games it's probably the best way to play them, etc. I thought it would be fine but then I didn't really factor in that some developers and publishers might just go, yeah I don't, you know, is there any point? And that is when you can lose it.

I was watching Michael Pachter's podcast and he was talking about how it's all about GamePass for Xbox, yet I've actually been hearing that Microsoft's been putting less focus on GamePass.

Not sure why it gets it's own thread, but I think there's a rumor thread for this sort of stuff.
