In the market for a PlayStation 4? You may want to consider Wal-Mart, as the retailer announced today that it will receive its largest ever PS4 shipment this weekend.

Systems will be available at Wal-Mart stores across the country beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 15. Consoles will also be available online while supplies last.

Xbox One systems remain old out at Wal-Mart. Separately, Wal-Mart said today as part of the Xbox One 2 million sales announcement that the company is refreshing its inventory "as fast as we can" to ensure customers can purchase the system for Christmas.

Wal-Mart also announced today that it will launch a Christmas Countdown Savings Event beginning on Friday, December 13 at 8 a.m. Game-specific deals include Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Grand Theft Auto V, and NBA 2K14 (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) for $40.

I called my Wal-Mart today and they will have about 20 for sell Sunday. So I hope to get one this Sunday. :)

Just read PS4 is in over 40 countries now.

I think they've got more production capacity than MS and are going to be way ahead at year end.

Yeah it would seem that globally they'll be pretty far ahead after the holidays are over.

Yes globally they'll be a good amount ahead but Xbox will probably outsell PS4 in December's NPD.

That's my assumption too. Nobody knows exactly how much total capacity MS and Sony have churning out systems daily.... well unless you are MS, Sony or their Chinese fabricator making it.

But considering MS launched in 13 countries with Sony matching their 13 + has another 25 or so being added to the fold totaling about 40 by year end, it's hard to believe both companies have similar daily production, or X1 actually has higher production.

That's why my opinion has always been that Sony should easily have higher sales, simply by having more countries. And that even ignores other things like price, PR and such..... two other things factors. Unless a huge manufacturing FUBAR happens to PS4 anytime soon, PS4 will outsell X1 for a while unless MS can someone launch in more countries to match Sony so their geographical locations can smooth out between them. It's currently miraculous X1 has almost kept up to PS4 for the first 3 weeks.

It's not like PS4 consoles just show up from thin air. Every time Sony launches in a new country there's already PS4s made and waiting to fill stores until they sell out, so their production capabilities are higher.

Honestly I'd say it's a rather safe bet to assume Sony is producing more consoles than MS; I think it's pretty evident when you figure in PS4 is still outselling XBO in almost all countries they're both released in while at the same time releasing machines in 27 more countries than MS (Which was my contention with Flynn belief MS is producing more consoles, it takes rather big leap in logic to arrive at that conclusion; doubly so with the rumors that tier 2 countries' XBO launch is delayed). The real question is was it a mistake on Sony's part and should they have taken those shipments that went to those 27 other countries and dumped them to NA? Sony is basically sacrificing an NA lead for WW numbers. It may prove to be a bad decision or it may prove to be the right one. At the very least Sony won't have to worry about a 15m unit lead in NA like last generation because that alone was a big win for MS.

I'm fairly confident if not outright positive that XBO will outsell PS4 in December, but obviously PS4 is going to better worldwide (should be fairly obvious). WW PS4 will be doing better and NA XBO will be doing better; I foresee the two console trading spots on the NPD for the first few months of next year at the very least. Unfortunately with Titanfall coming out on 360; I don't see it having as big of an impact as I would want from a numbers perspective. But at the same time, I realise that Titanfall won't do anywhere near as good of numbers without the 360 version due solely to how many Xbox Ones are/will be out; so I understand the decision completely.

They're both selling well, and it's good Xbox is doing well in USA which is MS's home turf and the focus of most of their TV, NFL, media, and kinect features.

Globally, PS4 will win hand down. PS4 is selling in the same countries as X1, but with another 25 or so other countries. It's not like these tier 2 countries are going to get zero initial shipments. Like any manufacturer, Sony has been churning out systems like crazy and stockpiling warehouses of PS4s to be ready for any country launch. The manufacturing has been happening concurrently with the NA batches.

The only way to counter this argument is if somebody wants to assume MS and Sony have the exact same manufacturing capacity where MS focuses on 13 countries, while PS4 takes that same amount of PS4s and spreads across 35-40 countries by the end of the year. A theory that is hard story to believe. Or an even tougher story to believe, MS has more manufacturing capacity.

As for USA only, PS4 sold 1.1M in Nov (~2 weeks) with 1M in the first day. So that means 100k for rest of month
X1 sold 900k in Nov (~1 week). Not sure how many they sold on day one, but it was 1M globally in 24 hrs. UK was 150k, so that leaves 850k for USA and other countries. Perhaps USA did 600k of it. That means US did maybe 300k rest of month.

Given the recent US sales trending excluding launch days for each, X1 is doing better. If the exact same daily sales keep going for Dec, X1 will win US NPD. If PS4 gets a lot more US resupply shipments (like the big Walmart batch) that is suppose to happen any day now then tides can turn and PS4 may win Dec NPD too.

I'm fairly sure that the 1M/24 hour figure was for all of NA, while the 1.1M for November is for the USA only. Of course, since Sony was allocating consoles to Europe predominantly after launch, it's possible the sales post-launch in the USA were light, but likely not 100k light.

PS4s are selling out like crazy. No point even bothering to check, it'll be sold out. X1's are more available. Amazon and Best Buy have them now. Target too.

They've been available around here with no probelm, you can't see all the stores on this scrollbar below, but literally like 5-6 in row have ps4's and have had them in stock. I bought another one yesterday and there was a stack of 15 in the floor with around 40 people in electronics walking around them like they didn't exist. Whereas 2 weeks ago i would have been trampled.

Taking a page from consolewarz, looks like demand for PS4 has plummeted. Despite a weekend shipment, there's still piles of consoles for sale and the day is almost over. Well, there's always Tuesday..... and Wednesday.... and Thursday to sell off the stack of PS4s. You'd think they be snapped up when the store opens at 7 am.

Certainly explains the Ebay prices taking a dump.. which is a good thing.

Consoles available to who wants them = good.
Interesting. With X-mas a week away, you'd think prices would still be sky high as people don't want to waste time scrounging from store to store in the cold and traffic.

When did I ever say "demand for xboxes has plummeted" or used individual store stock checkers as a reliable indicator of anything? Never. You're completely wrong as usual. That is what you and "de3d1" are doing in this thread, not me.

Sony will be over 50 countries by end of 2013, while ms has only done 13 countries and their next batch of countries has slipped well into 2014. Sony fulfilling all those countries, while still having another big allocation for walmart us, clearly tells their production is very well ramped up. Ps4 is basically an easy console to manufacture, sony didn't have to put up a new semiconductor manufacturing facility for the ps4, like they did with ps3.

I never said the ps4's demand has plummeted, it could be completely isolated to my area and the rest of the world people are fighting over them to death with pitchforks. Sorry my post with an image backing it up didn't put your master in a positive light, calm down they are winning.

Looks like this massive batch of PS4s hit stores the last few days. And according to Bunz's latest stock check in the other thread, many stores still have stock. Looks like demand has tapered off big time.

According to the beyond3d sales guy they shipped ~520k PS4s to US recently, mostly to wal-mart and gamestop. It's going to take a few days for that stock to clear through. You do realize that both console launches were highly frontloaded with most sales in the first 24-48 hours, right?

I've never used xboxes sitting on store shelves as "evidence" there's no more demand, when it could just be a large shipment that hasn't sold out yet, or a local demand issue when global sales tell a different picture. You're cherry picking numbers and "local stock" to imply a lack of demand when the reality is a shipment that large doesn't instantly vanish weeks into launch. Trust me, it'll sell out.

Disgusting and childish and completely exposes your real reason for being in this thread and posting those images - to troll and act dumb and obnoxious. Of course that tends to be the case whenever "the gang" invades this subforum.

Mind linking me to that thread? Sounds like an interesting discussion. Haven't been to B3D in awhile.

You sound hurt, using words like disgusting when concerning videogame talk sounds like you are emotionally invested, but we all knew that. Personally, I don't give damn if sony outsells MS/nintendo 50 to 1, I'll benefit from all of them, But your loyalty prevents such diversity doesn't it? ;)
