Never too shy to dip its toe into a new venture, Razer today announced its first speaker set.

The Razer Leviathan is a matched 5.1 channel surround sound bar and 5.25-inch downward firing subwoofer designed for gaming, movies and music. The device can be used wired or wirelessly with Bluetooth 4.0 streaming.

"The opportunity to produce a precision-engineered surround sound solution for high-performance gaming, movie watching and music listening, and make it versatile to use in any setting, was a very exciting proposition for us," Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO, said in a prepared statement "The Razer Leviathan delivers what music aficionados, movie buffs and gamers alike are looking for to improve their entertainment setup."

The duo features four tuned drivers and a subwoofer, 5.1 virtual surround sound powered by Dolby Virtual Speakers, Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic 2, audio streaming via Bluetooth v 4.0 aptX, a dedicated subwoofer and three preset equalizer modes tuned for gaming, music and movies.

The Leviathan is available for pre-order now for $199 and ships worldwide next month. Dig into the tech specs for the speakers right here.

Earlier this year Razer announced they would be releasing an Android-powered microconsole sometime this year. The company, which is best known for its gaming peripherals, is currently beta testing a fitness wristband as well called the Nabu.

Looks and sounds pretty sweet to me. Perhaps a little pricey at $200, but I do love its compact design.

before coming in, I was expecting to say something cheeky like Razer is Apple wannabe of PC peripherals, charging overprice for their products. But it seems rather good, & doesn't take up too much space.
