Today, whatever we hear the word "Thanksgiving," the first thing that usually come to our mind: Foods and spend the time with Family for the day. However, I think it's important to aware what is the truly meaning of the word "Thanksgiving" and how it came to be. Of course many of us have heard about the story of the Pilgrims and Native Americans at Plymouth way back in 1621. The thing is it seems, in my humble opinion, that many people are missing the entire point of "thanksgiving." I pulled out the quotes from Internet. Enjoy. ;)

Edward Winslow:

Our corn did prove well, and God be praised, we had a good increase of Indian corn, and our barley indifferent good, but our peas not worth the gathering, for we feared they were too late sown, they came up very well, and blossomed, but the sun parched them in the blossom. Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after … a special manner rejoice together after we had gathered the fruit of our labors;

they four in one day killed as much fowl as, with a little help beside, served the company almost a week, at which time amongst other recreations, we exercised our arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and among the rest their greatest King Massasoit, with some ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five deer, which they brought to the plantation and bestowed on our governor, and upon the captain, and others. And although it be not always so plentiful as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want that we often wish you partakers of our plenty

President George Washington:

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God . .. Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be . . . .And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions.

President Lincoln:

I do, therefore, invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a Day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that, while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation, and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!! :bang: Have a good one. Stay safe. Don't get drunk. Share foods with poor. Give warm clothes to the needy. Don't curse. Be nice to people at the stores (Black Friday).

The day we honor when the white men murdered the Native Americans and stole their land. That right there is Thanksgiving.

Oh and napping... napping is a big part of it.

An excuse for the Bloody Americans to consume as much food as possible in one day, then waddle their fat asses to the store in an effort to save a quick buck...:txbconfused: "I Clearly Don't Get It...

As someone who thinks Jesus has absolutely nothing to do with why I have food to eat, certainly don't take offense to that whatsoever.

It's just that for me Thanksgiving is about giving thanks to what/who ACTUALLY provides food for me.. human invention and cooperation, my parents and other caregivers, and at this point in my life since I only have myself to rely on my own hard work.

Happy Thanksgiving

Friends and family getting together and s***ting all over the bigot Puritans while us bloody Americans waddle around the dinner table enjoying good food and stories. Maybe having a nice belly laugh at the expense of people desperate enough to save a buck to deal and with the cold outside. I love my family!
