Every single generation, something big changes. Last gen, we saw a huge advent in the use of Unreal Engine 3, Call of Duty being the biggest videogame franchise in the world, huge spike in EA's game quality, huge market share gain from Xbox, etc.
While the transition to this new generation seem much smoother, I am sure some things will still change, and some will be big. So why don't we post some that we think will happen and change gaming forever.
I think these will happen...
- Battlefield becomes bigger than Call of Duty, but COD will still live
- Unreal Engine 4 not as widely used as 3, largely replaced by propriety techs like Frostbite and Tech 5
- At least one game at launch becomes an influential franchise... I'm looking at Ryse.
- Halo gets even smaller... but it will stop somewhere and the franchise will live.
