Dying Light and Evolve are both launching in the upcoming weeks. Both focus extensively on multiplayer coop modes and each features a "be-the-monster" mode which pits the main party against a player controlled monster. Both are developed by teams with a solid pedigree for the coop experience.

I haven't followed either game much but gamers are approaching the dry season and these maybe two of the last big releases for a while.

I didn't hear too many people talking about the Evolve alpha and even less people are talking about Dying Light.

One other thing the games seem to have in common is that the publisher are pushing hard to lock big chunks of them behind DLC pay walls.

If Turtle Rock can match the awesomeness that is Left for Dead I'd be all about Evolve. Dying Light looks pretty bad ass too, however, right now I'd say neither as I have a big enough backlog to hold me over for a while.

Thanks for the thread. I had no idea Dying Light had an adversarial mode. Will check it out but as of right now Evolve is my most anticipated game.

I say meh for now. If Dying Light can fix the issues Dead Island had we will see.

I will certainly try the Evolve beta (never played alpha). Personally I find co-op games a little overrated. Fun to play with friends, but with randoms... ugh.

I am absolutely pumped for Dying Light. Have already preordered on live. I'm also pretty shocked the game isn't getting more attention. It's like the zombie edition of Mirrors Edge, which sounds awesome to me!

While certainly rough around the edges I had a pile load of fun with Dead Island, must be played co-op for most enjoyment though.

I was pumped up for both of them, but their DLC/preorder antics on both titles have pushed me away.

Already have Dying Light preloaded. Just don't get the hype for Evolve so far. I guess the beta could change my mind, but none of the videos I've seen have done anything for me.

I'm very much still on the fence about Evolve, but if I get either of these games Evolve will be it.

Just received an email about a closed technical test on PC this weekend. Guess I'll give it another try and hope for a better experience than the last time.

Ok, we need a list of people on here who have preordered Dying Light. I'm going to be invading your games haha.

I really don't know, I think there is a lack of innovation in coop games this gen so far, its definitely a slight notch up from last gen, but not much of one.

I really want to see a L4D type game where you play as the director and can choose where to send hordes etc, but also have a capable AI director like last gen.

You did not just attempt to entwine Evolve with the phrase "lack of innovation".

Evolve does not appeal to me from what I have seen, maybe ill change my mind once its out. Dyeing Light looks good, ill pick that up at some point.

Eh, I'm not seeing much innovation, tbh. Asymmetrical Multiplayer is certainly not new even if it isn't very common. Juggernaut? Player Classes? Even if you want to call it that, based on my time with the Alpha and Beta, they can keep whatever "innovation" they had. Innovation for innovation sake isn't necessarily a good thing, and in my opinion, they didn't pull it off.

Some people like it though, but I just don't see it gaining much traction regardless of how hard it's pushed by "journalists". Seriously, I can not fathom the universal praise, but hey, it's subjective.

Probably neither now. I think Evolve is going to be a bust.
