I've noticed that too. And the mobile site is also very demanding despite being supposedly being designed for mobile. Sometimes is a just too demanding, and my mobile browser crashes.

Change the style. Certain styles are more taxing.

I've already tried that. I only use the default style now. It's faster than before, but still fairly taxing.
