Wii Classic Controller Pro compatible with Wii U games?

I was wondering if the Wii Classic Controller Pro is compatible for Wii U games that don't require the gamepad or motion controls to play? By purchasing one I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone so my friends/family can play Wii U games or virtual console games with me.

I researched it a bit more. It's only certain games. Like Shovel knight and black ops 2 as examples. I guess it's back to looking for a good deal on wii u pro controllers. :/

The Wii U Pro controllers are so much better than the Wii ones.
