Not that I see anyway,if there is well sue me but I am new here so...lol

Anyway, season starts tonight I am sure there 's some Hockey fans here, give us your team to start things off...

Me it's the Montreal Canadiens...Go Habs Go....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blackhawks and Coyotes here. Definitely ready for this season to start.

Leafs fan here. Mwahahahahaha!

Feels good man (until that 12 game winless streak) gonna go have a look at the standings for a good 5 minutes just in case that's the last time it looks like that haha.

There was another thread I remember posting in it with some 'nucks fans, probably way back there a few pages.

Yeah, came close near the end there but not enough time....did you see the Parros,Orr fight..? weird accident for Parros,he actually knocked himself out, falling flat on his face on the ice....I hope he's okay,we should know more today.

Kings fan (started the earlier NHL thread here). Looking forward to the new season definitely. Strange feeling to be rooting for a good team!

Very cool to have a fellow Kings fan here. I spent last weekend in Vegas for Frozen Fury.

Ah ok didnt see it,sorry, maybe a Mod can merge this thread with yours and close this one...?

Awesome. The NHL network had the game with the Rangers, which was nice - turned it on just before puck drop, saw Kopitar being Kopitar and all was right in the world. :)

I just wish their trip to Tampa was later in the season and on a Friday or weekend, so I could make the trip down there to see them again. It's in a couple of weeks and there's no way conceivable that I can make it currently, even ignoring the 3 1/2 hour drive. :(

No need for that. I don't think we get anything special for starting threads anyhow. :)

Haha, definetly saw a STFO right there hehe...man he has to watch is temper though,he reminds me of Michel Bergeron back in the Nordiques days...he had an heart attack at some point also.

My wife loves it so far, though. She's an Avs fan (and my second-favorite team), so she's been excited about this since it was annouced. Granted, if they had gotten Forsberg instead she'd have been in heaven.

I can't believe the Flames lost that game!

Any one else notice a lot of East vs West matchups early in this season?

I know they did the re-alignment, but maybe I missed a detail about East vs West frequency?

Or maybe the shortened lockout season ruined me (was a good season) and I actually prefer no cross conference matchups. I'm confusing myself :(

I think every team plays other conference team twice, once at home and once away.

Kings defeated the Wild in a shoot out last night, giving MN their first home opener loss in history.
I was watching another show at the time but the length of the shootout fit within a commercial window so it worked out. I also had never heard Kopitar talk before. Wasn't sure where he was born but damn his English is good. I only had a hint of an accent.

He's from Slovenia - first Slovenian to ever play in the NHL and obviously first to have his name on the Cup as well.

And on a mostly unrelated note:

Well, that was a mehtastic home opener.

Yeah, I recorded it but I was completely worn out and I barely made it to the 10:30 faceoff before giving up and going to sleep. That meant I just got to experience the game this morning by fastforwarding until goals, seeing how they happened, and listening to Bob and Jim for a few moments discussing it. That third goal was just unbelievable.

dufuq?? I was thinking about getting NHL GameCenter Live... $150?!?!?!!?! Damn the MLB.tv Premium package is only $130 and there's almost twice as many games in a season. What a plow job. Hockey may be infinitely better than baseball but damn son.

And it's subjective to blackouts...total BS.

Vancouver goes up against New Jersey tonight, really hope Schneider is in net and shuts the nucks out, just so Gillis looks like the utter fool he is for trading him. Yes, I am a nucks fan :p

I didn't even think of that. I get the Blackhawks games here which is great but I'd mostly use GameCenter for the Coyotes. Wonder how many games I would be blacked out of... MLB really screws me over (in theory) as I should be blacked out of:

Cubs
White Sox
Brewers
Twins
Royals
Cardinals

Luckily the geo-location for my IP puts me in Alabama or something so it didn't affect me this year.

Yeah,we get a similar package here in Canada, well on Bell's satellite anyway, they call it Centre Ice or something,I have it free till the 19th but then it's like 150 bucks...with TSN,TSN2,RDS,RDS2,TVASports(they show the Senators)and Sportsnet,I dont really need NHLCI,lol...there's a game every night, sometimes 2 even...

Lucky. Since I cut cable and went for an HTPC with usenet I haven't had any access to live games, thought about GC until I read about the blackouts..would do me no good. Still looking for a solution, either to subscribe to something or a way to watch all the nucks games online somehow. I use XBMC but their add-ons for CBC sucks ass.
