Got it the other day, played through enough of it to give the game a huge stamp of approval. It's sooooo damn good. I'm loving Wrestlemania mode so much, and I haven't even fully touched all that the game has to offer like Streak mode, creating storylines, or doing any kind of career mode. I really recommend it. It's just awesome. Plus, they have an alternate cover of current star Daniel Bryan that I personally think looks much better than the one they used with the Rock. What I love about Wrestlemania is the variety and objectives it offers. It's really something I never quite experienced before. It's simple stuff like recreating certain moments, performing a particular move, or completing a series of actions within a framed window of time. I've only gotten to the 10th year of Wrestlemania and I've used guys like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Yokozuna, Ultimate Warrior, and even Andre the Giant. I'm really excited to play more and more matches. I know they did something similar last year with the Attitude Era exclusively and it's been a great move I think. Would love to see them maybe expand upon that idea and include matches from WCW, ECW, NWA, Smoky Moutain, AWA, Memphis, etc. Just so much potential for recreating classic wrestling moments in the game. It'd be interesting to see them approach storylines like a Mass Effect game where you can forge alliances, romances, and get multiple endings.

Don't like wrestling anymore but loved it growing up. This game has so many old school wrestlers I grew up watching, I'll pick it up eventually.

It's a good game but damn they still have the same problems they've had with this series for years. AI is as dumb as a stump and hit detection is still off.

I don't know, AI feels fine. Hit detection is a bit odd in certain camera angles and when guys are getting up, but nothing that's really put me off the game. I wish they could re-release this on the X1/PS4 so that they could add more stuff to Wrestlemania mode. Like, the lack of paparazzi in the Diesel vs HBK match was pretty apparent to me. Diesel man handling all the cameramen was a cool part of that match. I also wish we could have gotten Mr. T and Lawrence Taylor in the match so we could have the proper main events for Wrestlemania 1 and 10. Still love the arenas and entrances though. The way stuff lights up is cool and the arenas are great to look at.

I've watched AI controlled characters repeatedly run into the side of the cell over and over again, they throw a weapon into the ring then come in and leave it there for me to pick up, they'll set me up on a table then walk away lol there are all kinds of things wrong with it.

The more I play, the more I see of the AI Jinca is talking about, but to be honest, I'm kind of meh on it. For wrestling games, I usually don't want back and forth. Straight up squash is how I like it. So rarely noticeable for me. However, I do notice an occasional glitch where wrestlers hover well above the ring. It's happened about three times throughout my experience. Nothing game breaking and I'm not completely sure what causes it, but you can definitely see drawbacks of doing a yearly game. I wish 2K would be willing to do a two year deal liked Call of Duty at least, where you have two devs working on different games. Maybe at least once would be nice. Have a HD collection of WWF/E games that range from old Nintendo and Sega days to the PS2.

I bought the last one, but never got into the control. I'd probably like it more if it was more simple & arcadey honestly.

Finally into what I guess WWE considers to be the modern times of WWE, dubbed the "Universe Era." Which is very weird to me since one could argue that took place much earlier. Say around the double murder/suicide of a certain crippler. Either way, I found Wrestlemania XIV to be the hardest part in terms of completing all the objectives. The last one wanted me to do Randy Orton's punt and get a pin fall victory 10 seconds after. Found out quickly it how this move actually took a good chunk of time to accomplish since the entire animation caused whichever guy I had previously RKO'd to stand up again. Match went on for a while multiple times as myself or one of the other guys would end up getting pinned. Had to have three finishers ready, get one guy down, do the punt on another, then RKO the previous, and barely make the time limit. Felt very accomplished afterwards.

Huh, just realized they had a photo album you could look through. The old photos certainly come across as cooler in my opinion as the modern ones look more like screen grabs.

My hope is now that the license is with a publisher that actually has money they'll be able to do a lot more to improve it, plus they are all but guaranteed to be doing a next gen version for next year as well so I hope that injects some new life into the series. As far as them taking two years per game I think the WWE probably requires an annual release in their contract much like sports leagues do. We get upset about Madden and all of the other sports titles coming out every year with minimal upgrades but that's (yearly releases) actually mandated by the various leagues not so much the game publishers.

Finally finished Wrestlemania mode. The last match is Rock vs Cena at WM29. Hard as hell. Rock kept on reversing all my moves for a while. Finally beat him though. Then I tried out Streak mode to beat Undertaker. Same situation. Taker is tough as nails and will counter so much of what you do. You really gotta get enough counters of your own to stand a chance. I used Sgt. Slaughter and put Taker away with the Cobra Clutch. Great match, I turned on blood and the Deadman had the proverbial crimson mask and everything. Still haven't tried out Universe mode or some of the matches, but I'm happy to see that there is still a ton of content to explore. I could probably play this game for years unless Yukes drums up a cool new campaign.

I'll say this as well, this game makes me want to go and get another wrestling game. Maybe rebuy TNA iMPACT! and try that AAA game that was released a couple of years ago.

Gave Streak Mode another run, this time going for another victory against the Undertaker, trying to unlock the photos. Decided to go newest and oldest, so I'm using CM Punk. Weird new thing happened, apparently Undertaker can just heal himself out of nowhere. This still isn't Jeff Jarrett boss mode tough, but damn, Yukes made Undertaker very hard to beat.

Got around to playing online. It's kind of weird and fun at the same time. Weird because of all the timed reversals and general race to get the first grapple. Plus, you can't trick the AI into following you. People already know the tricks so waiting on top of the announcer's table won't do much at all besides waist time. Obviously lost my first match, but it was cool to do so against a CAW, a Shelton Benjamin remake. I know SB was a gamer himself, so I wonder if he plays the game and perhaps creates his own version of himself.

Hmm, spending a bunch of time with the game, WWE Universe mode isn't all that great I think. A bit boring to be perfectly honest. I blame the lack of presentation compared to 30 Years of Wrestlemania or Undertaker's Beat/Defend the Streak. Those are just fantastic additions. Love that I can use some custome arenas against Undertaker, a bit odd since all other PPV arenas besides the Wrestlemania ones are locked out for Streak mode. Still though, I'm loving the game and will probably 1000/1000 the achievements.

Hopefully they have something similar to 30 Years of Wrestlemania and The Streak. I know WWE is well over it's 50th year overall and I'd love to see a campaign mode trekking from the classic days of wrestling to the now.

Finally got up to 50-0 in Defend the Streak. I ended up around 57 before Taker tapped to Chris Jericho (retro). Got a score over 100,000 and was placed 83 overall on the leaderboards. Good s***.

I still have this sitting in it's shrink-wrap might rip it open after reading your short stories.
Keep in mind, this is the first time I played a WWE game beyond demos. I do love the game and it's kind of become my video game obsession as of late. Some good community creations to grab. There's a Slender (Hey)man that's just plain freaky and a chrissmissy Kandy Kane that's pretty sweet.

People still play wwe games? i thought the market for it had dried up, just like the sport/drama itself.

Nope, still makes a ton of money. In fact, 80,000+ people attended the last Wrestlemania in New Jersey and it was the second most attended WWE event in the shows history, only beat by Wrestlemania 3's 90,000 attendance. I know it's on at least three days a week at the moment and there's another company called TNA with a show called Impact Wrestling that's available around the world and is on every thursday night. So pro wrestling is really on most of the week in TV land.

Anyhow, just got my first online victory. Used a custom version of Paul Heyman I made called Buff Heyman. Not sure if content is shared between the platforms, but if you got this on the 360, be sure to give it a download, along with another one I made called Ivan Starr.

The more I play online, the more the lag shows itself. It got so bad at one point that all my actions were like a second and half off. You'd think Yukes would have this thing down pat by now considering this is like the 10th WWE game released this gen.
