Yoshi's New Island 3DS 3/14/2014

Never played one of these. Is it just a regular platformer type game similar to Mario or.... ?
 
The art style is a little strange but I would love to play it.
 
The 1st Yoshis Island is my favorite 2D Mario game ever. Man if this is even half as good as the original we are in for a tasty treat.

It's a bit slower, but has it's own charms. Where as in other Mario games there is finishing a level against a timescore, in Yoshi's Island game there is no time clock and there is more of a puzzle element involved compared to Mario games. The crayon style is deliberate to entertain the idea of a storybook :).

Yoshi-Themed Nintendo 3DS XL Revealed

Nintendo has announced a green Yoshi-themed Nintendo 3DS XL will be available in North America and Europe from March 14.
The handheld, released to coincide with the launch of Yoshi's New Island on the platform, will have a recommended retail price of $199.99.
The bundle leaked earlier this month, but this is the first time that we've got a look at how the model will be designed. As you can see in the image below, Yoshi appears on the front and the back will apparently bear a number of small eggs

I need to finish Super Mario 3D Land and Zelda Link Between Worlds before I pick this up.
 
I also haven't played any of these games. I think it looks fun though.
 
That 3DS XL is soooooooo nice. Why not include a digital copy of the game, though?
 
Why not on the Wii U too? I loved Yoshi's Island on the SNES, it had prolly the coolest graphical style of the time and was pretty fun to boot.
