Official Comic Book Thread

Yeah, I see a lot of changes. Hope they will work all things out smoothly soon.

Last night, I was reading Batman #5 (Scott S.) and, all of suddenly, the pages are completely upside-down. I reported to Comixology about that. It appears that they're fully aware of it because in the description, it did warned that it contains upside down pages. Does anyone know how to fix it while I'm waiting for their reply via email?

Yea got the $5 as well. Not sure what to use it on. If there is a way to gift it I would give it to you Smurfboy . The email reminded me I might as well change my password as I think they were hacked at some point recently.

Yes, it has been recently hacked. Here's the [news] about that. I think everything got fixed now.

well if you're on ipad or a different tiblit lock the screen so it does not auto turn when you move it around and just flip your titbit around.

That's the thing, bro. I don't have iPad or any kind of tablet. I only use my computer for all comic books. Unless I have to, literally, turn upside down the monitor for this or something, lol. Er, really need to finish reading #5, so I can move on to #6 issue.

I take it back, actually. My wife does have kindle Fire HD. Will that work? I haven't tried it yet. Might need to ask her to see what it does.

I finally started reading again. Re-read the first few issues of Guardians and then got up to the issue right before Infinity tie-ins. Hoping tonight/tomorrow I will re-read and catch up in Nova, and then finally read the Infinity stuff. I'm about 10 issues behind in Batman so will probably catch up in that as well, or at least up until Year Zero and then wait for all of those issues to release and then read in one go.

I'd like to get all the individual issues of Uncanny X-Men but might not be able to. Otherwise I may just get the first couple of trades and then individual issues. But my OCD or whatever says I want the individuals damn it!

I've noticed that Uncanny X-Men only got 25 more issues to go before become 100% complete (544 issues in total!) on Comixology/Marvel.com. Very nice. I wanna own all of it one day, lol.

Update: Interestingly, as I googled to find out why this was the cause, I'm not the only one who has the problem with the pages being upside down. According to the reports, people have said that this was exactly how it was in the printed version. It was meant to be like that in order to make the readers as confuse as Batman. People, including myself, who bought digital format and read 'em on PC, are, basically, screwed. I'm so angry about this right now and I feel like I want to scream at someone who work at Comixology to fix this issue. I can't stand it at all and definitely NOT a good experience for me. I almost did not want to follow Batman series because of this stupid upside down. UGGGHHh!!

I have to try on my wife's Kindle Fire to see how it goes.

Guardians of the Galaxy 1-7 complete
Nova 1-7 complete

Hoping to start the Infinity stuff today and work through it this week. Was at the local shop on Thursday and think I can get all the Uncanny X-Men stuff in individual. Will double check on Tuesday and pick up the first couple arcs to see if it's worth continuing. Thinking about redoing my pull list. Right now for sure I'm going with:

Guardians of the Galaxy
Nova
All-New X-Men
Batman
Saga

I'm also getting these right now but may change them up:

Clone > first 6 were great but haven't read after that up to issue 15 now
Invincible > read up to about issue 60 I think but haven't touched in a while. Have the trades and individuals up to 110 or so
Great Pacific > decent but checking out new Image series Fuse which looks like its good

New Moon Knight series which so far has reviewed good. Haven't read yet but the last volume is what got me into buying comics.

Does Uncanny X-Men have any good jumping on points in the last few years? The sheer amount of issues makes it confusing, but it's also nice to have such a vast amount to read if there's nothing else I'm currently reading.

As of this week (or next week, I forget) you can pick up the first three Uncanny X-Men hardcovers of the current run by Brian Michael Bendis (Revolution, Broken, and The Good, The Bad, The Inhuman). It's a solid series, but second-best to the parallel-running All-New X-Men, also by Bendis. The first four hardcovers of the latter series are also out now (Yesterday's X-Men, Here To Stay, Out of Their Depth and All Different) . Stay away from Brian Wood's "X-men" series, as its been painfully average thus far.

All-New X-Men also crosses over with Guardians of the Galaxy for a few issues for the Trial of Jean Grey story arc, which will be collected in hardcover this month as well. This was a really fun story that I enjoyed quite a bit.

Yea I'm up to date with All-New X-Men, it's been really refreshing to read the classic X-Men but in the modern Marvel universe. I'll look into starting the Uncanny run when Bendis started, seems like a good point. I don't really have anything to binge read right now so reading Uncanny again seems like a good choice.

If you've read Remender's Uncanny X-Force, you should give Uncanny Avengers a try if you haven't already. It reads like a continuation of the former. Just skip volume one. It's terrible. After that, the series gets super-good.

Not sure if it's cool to talk about this here but if mods want remove my post. if you download comics online you have got to try the software called YACreader. This thing is forking ass it's a database for your comics. Once you load them up go to your ipad download the comics and boom you're reading. The app is just 1.99 well worth it PC or mac software is free.

It's keeps the folders you set and all the sub folders when it transfers stuff to ipad to keep it neat clean and easy to read. I f***ing love it started to use it yesterday so impressed.

I'm reading Punisher Max and Batman Knightfall were batman had his back broke and had a replacement then he comes back. I'm downloading old comics story's as I enjoy them more I find modern comics now take themselves to damn seriously. I've not set down to read comics in years I forgot how much I enjoyed it.

I'm also sick of the political BS they like to put in comics now but mind you they've always done that.

I think I'm just completely oblivious to political messages in comics, outside of the really blatant ones.

funny thing is I'd not mind it if it was balanced but the artiest and writers are always lift wing so it's just the evil right wing folk they seem to like to make commentary on. I really hate it it just pisses me off and pulls me right out of a comic or movie.

I also hate this s*** where they seem to want to change characters races just to seem forward thinking and making a gay guy in every book just so they can say they have that type of thing.

I don't mind gay characters, but it's irritating when they just have a token gay character and then constantly remind you of that character's sexuality. I think the best way I've ever seen it handled is with Batwoman. She's a superhero who happens to be gay, but that's not what defines her, it's just a detail about who she is. And it certainly comes into play during the slice-of-life moments of the book, but it's never handled in such a blatantly political way. The bits of the series that deal with her relationship feel just like any other relationship-bits you would read in any other comic, only her partner is also a woman. They don't make a fuss about it or try to draw attention to it.

well that my issue when they use it as a cheap gimmick it's annoying. its like ok yeah I know gay people are out there and I'm cool with it but stop shoving it in my face so the lift wing writers can get the we love gay people message out. I also hate the whole change a characters race like they did with willy west. I mean make a new black or Spanish character that can stand on their own.

That crap along with s***ty political shots and messages really turn me off to comics sometimes.

It's a tactic that I wouldn't necessarily attach solely to comics. Film and television are also susceptible to being used by the writers to push their own agenda. You could say the same about any creative medium. Even art often has political statements attached to it.

I agree I hate it in TV and movies too. I'm having fun reading The Punisher Max. It's pure silly fun and has good art and writing and I like all the arcs are 6 issues long. it's written in trade format.

Yeah, I think it's being released in Omnibus format soon, too. Jason Aaron's run on it is first.

Yeah he wrote the 2nd max series Marvel did. The one I'm reading I like better it's more serious and down to earth. It's pretty good.

Been reading the Mask comics. Pretty good, not great, but Lobo vs The Mask is pretty awesome. Still haven't read the first series though. I read everything after, but the original sounds very cool.

Damn if you've yet to do it check out Thor God of thunder very good book. they did have some BS environment arc but it was not bad at all and not to in your face with it. I also recommend Captain America the new series is pretty damn dark for cap. It just had an arc that was a little preachy but it was done fine and was even pro America too.
