Football/Soccer Video Games Discussion

I was able to do that on default difficulty (semi-pro I think), but on pro and above it didn't seem to work. It seemed all my guys were too slow and too soft on marking.

I'll have to try more on pro. Maybe I just was worse on 14 than I remember (I swore I played WC). It was also 5am here when I was playing.

I always use the tele broadcast camera and it is hard to tell who is who.

Maybe you are too close to the ball carrier ? Allow a bit more space and it should abate their speed/manoeuvrability advantage since you have more time to react.

That's entirely possible. The short time on the demo seems to make me rush. I'll try again tonight. I was able to get them to pass back in semi-pro which I thought was a really cool thing for the CPU to do.

Here's what I am seeing a lot of (not my vid).

This guy is a little too aggressive, but still shouldn't have gotten burned so bad:

Panic much

Way too much team mate contain and not enough vision. As soon as he got burned he should flicked the RS to switch to a player in the centre of the goal and stood firm to blocked attempt/shot. This game loves to punish the over eager aggressive defender. Got to be patient.

I've had the chance to play 4 matches on the demo trying various teams. I played over 500 matches on FIFA'14 so I was really looking forward to what improvements are in store.

Likes:
- The crowd, the chants, the reactions to the match
- Players off the ball (AI controlled) have better movement and awareness
- Goalkeepers are more agressive
- On the fly tactics are better and have more effect
- Set pieces are much better

Dislikes
- Highlights showing crap like kickoffs and other things that really aren't highlights imho
- ball still seems grounded more than IRL and physics still unrealistic
- already have had a few goals scored in last minute/stoppage of 1st half or end of game - I really hope they got rid of allowing that.

For FIFA14 the game was superior on PS4 both graphically and gameplay...going to check out the PS4 demo and see if that margin still exists for '15.

i played alot today and.. THIS GAME IS f***ING AWESOME!

i love the new dribbling, new keepers that can concede or makes saves in unscripted fashion, the legendary AI that takes risks, the presentation is next level, new tactics are great, new set piece options are great, celebrations are MUCH better..

add the fact it will have all premier league stadiums with incredible real life presentation.. this has easily become one of my most anticipated games! well done EA, hopefully the game doesnt change much except for some GK glitches and ball physics are sometimes weird.

Doesn't change much? they need to make the players run free like 14 on the current gen and unlike 14 on the last gen. The players are too stiff when moving forward, the goalkeepers are also poor at times and the fumble rate is alarming.

Graphics aren't as good as 14 but the presentation fantastic.

There's still a lot of changes to be made, hopefully we are playing a old build. I would be disappointed if I received the demo as the full game on the 23rd.

that sluggish feel is the new dribbling system, players take time to bring it under control and then every touch is precise. players like silva are a joy to play with.

i agree on keeper but i dont want it to go back to how it was where every goalkeeper save is pre determined animation.. yawn. i would rather have abit s*** keepers that have shots that come off under their arms, legs or go under their legs.. creates variety

graphics for me look better than FIFA 14.. better pitch, better crowd, better kit detail. i played FIFA14 3 days ago so my memory is pretty fresh.

I played a few games of the 15 demo and went back to 14 to see if I was remembering things correctly, and I was.

In 14, your CPU teammates have somewhat of a brain. The defense will be somewhat smart in picking up players. In 15, I get lit up by Man City - as in can't even get the ball past midfield. I could defend against some of the weaker teams, but put me up against a great one and forget it. It is like the dropoff is too high. This is on pro even, which should not be that tough. I turned off tactical defending and went to legacy and that only helps a little. X still makes defenders lunge past attackers far too often. The CPU simply throws hockey passes across the goal mouth which teammates just stare at.

And don't get me started on how CPU players won't go for a loose ball. They just sit there and stare.

In 14, I don't abuse the tactical defending and can keep better teams away from goal. I can control a CB and mark the most dangerous striker, while using teammates to keep the CPU from marching right in on goal.

Pro difficulty is just way harder in 15 than 14. I'm not sure if EA wanted to make the demo a goal fest to get people interested or maybe I need to change my tactics a ton.

Also, the "new" strategy stuff was "revolutionary" in that PES had the same system a decade ago :)

Honestly I pay take a hard look at PES this year and stick with 14.

I love the new keepers and ball physics. The ball bounces now are a tactical edge. I have noticed that I now try to get the ball to bounce in front of the keeper as it causes them all sorts of problems( like in real life). Got a fair few goals from doing it too.
The dribbling takes a little to get used to (at least for me) unlike Last-gen FIFA where the best scenario was sprinting with the ball at all times, in 15 I find slower dribbling to be the best way. I also found that you need to use all the dribbling features to maximize decent players. LB for slow dribble and quick turns in tight spots. Face up dribbling for beating players, and then the knock on system is most useful in counter attacking and taking the ball round the keeper.

Love it :)

Is the flair shooting button (LT) broken in this demo ? Everytime I use it the balls goes flying anywhere but the goal. I also found that the multiple running sped option is broke on PC. Turn it on an your players only seem to run at half pace. Also, anybody else struggling with shots at 30 yards+ ? I am lucky if 1 in 5 attempts goes anywhere near the goal.

Does anyone else have an issue with Fifa 15 on the PS4 not fitting to screen? no such problem with the Xbox One version.

On a side note, players refuse to tackle the higher up in class you go.

What version of build is this demo is this?

The shooting is definitely "floaty". I was only able to get one or two shots in the air under the crossbar. Basically you have to tap and shoot low.

Yea, same problem here with the PS4 version, not a problem on the PC. I assume it'll be fixed for launch, the demo is always a build that's a few months old.

Anyway, although I haven't played a huge amount of the demo I feel like the defending has improved personally. Tackling feels way more precise and players once again actually put a foot in and try and get in the way of crosses when they're close to the ball unlike in Fifa 14 where 99% of the time you had to manually press the button. Shooting is definitely wonky in the demo though, and long range shots are floaty as hell.

I can't get a tackle in to save my life from World Class onwards. I don't understand those that say it's improved like a poster mentioned earlier players just drift by me even though my own players/defenders are within inches of them but choose not to stick a foot in.

Slide tackles seem to miss majority of the time and the usual tap tackle is ridiculously difficult.

It is all about timing. In FIFA 14 you had time to take a quick breath and think, shall I tackle, in FIFA 15 though that = getting burned. Attack and commit. Also, tackling after they touch the ball gives you more time to be successful. As for standing tackles, use LT only to get in to position, then hit RT to brst attack and then tackle. I found this way of doing it last night, and seems to be working well for me.

Your RT second man cover? LT jockey?

I normally stick to seasons with Fifa I feel this one will take some time getting use to so friendly's online and career mode for atleast 2/3 months before jumping online.

Nah. LT is jocky, RT is run speed, RB is teammate contain.

What does teammate contain do ?

Teammate contain sends the closest AI player to mark the guy with the ball on the other team. Very useful as it allows you to control another defender to cut down potential passing lanes or to create a double team situation on the ball carrier.

Played a few games of this last night. I love the new tackling. If it's not new, it feels very different to me. What's up with the long shots though? Couldn't for the life get a goal from outside the box. Has the way you strike the ball changed?

No clue with long shots, I am struggling with them too. The only thing new in tackling this year is possession tackles where you keep control of the ball after going to ground.

Think I figured out long shots. Do not hold RT ( Sprint) when powering up the shot. Same goes for Flair shots(LT) too. Since I have been doing this my long shots have improved significantly.
