Football/Soccer Video Games Discussion

i played like a half of a half before i left.. it felt same, but no way did i have enough time to judge proper

when i get back on wednesday night i will probably play this before Destiny :D

Yeah, 1 minute is not enough to judge.

Still not up on Origin :mad:

Only available for Xbox One for now, according to EA.
Have it downloaded for when I get home

Yeah, I saw the twits tweet that.
You know how they say it is the small things that matter, well, this is the sort of small stuff that really pisses me off.

First world problem confirmed.

Yes. A first world one.

No worrying about having to walk miles through war torn country side to find clean water for us!

Maybe somebody should tell them that they can, you know, filter water, or boil it  No guilt for the stupid here.

Now, WHERE IS MY DEMO! :D

Shall give the demo a try because at the moment I'm not planning on getting it this year.

Been playing the demo gone from hitting the cross bar once or twice in a game to about fifteen times a game lol

Played a couple of games on the One and the presentation, player modules ext look great but the movement is off. The players seem to have reverted back to Fifa 14 on the PS3/Xbox 360 so stiff on the ball, the turns being the worst.

I know it's only a demo and I hope its addressed but it's too easy to get the ball with Messi for example and run straight through the defense? the goalkeepers make some nice saves but all 5 of my goals over two games came from a finesse shot being parried straight to one of my players. Keepers seem to fumble a lot.

Jaggies galore. Graphically Fifa 14 looked better.

Not too impressed but I rarely am with a Fifa demo and more often then not they get it right by release.

On the controller, I hate it for sports games especially Fifa. The two trigger buttons are too big and take away from the smaller bumper buttons, essential in fifa. Playstation controller is perfect.

All of that is of low significance. Lets get down to what really matters...How is the A.I ?

Stupid and unresponsive would be the best way to describe the AI but again I've only played a couple of games. The defense and keepers particularly, it's a lot easier to drift past a defender with messi or Suarez for example? I thought they made the defensive side of the game better?

The goalkeepers although they make some outstanding saves get caught out on stupid goals they love to fumble for example. Some of the reactions from the keeper when you score are very robotic and unrealistic.

what difficulty?

Yeah, I was about to ask what Dibils said. What difficulty ?

Does not sound good though. The A.I has always been the thing holding FIFA back, and from these quick & early impressions it sounds like it has got worse.

Ok, following on from my earlier impressions I just finished my first game on World Class and it's a complete 180. I didn't realize just how much of a rush I was in earlier. I not only changed the difficulty setting but camera to my preferred 'tele' and now it's a proper game of football.

The AI defensively especially became a lot more sturdy final score 0-0. The CPU had the majority of the chances although the game will allow you possession creating a chance was tuff. The usual one, two and flick over the defense doesn't seem to work and if it does the centre back is back with you and pushing you out denying a goal scoring opportunity. I am impressed.

The goalkeepers are still questionable in their decision making. Some of the shots both against and for myself could have been dealt with better.

Other then that a much improved version of 14. It's starting to play like a proper game now.

I am really enjoying the demo.

Only played 5 games thus far but love the new presentation aspects. Love the new Highlights. Love that they show previous incidents during the match.
The Atmosphere is so much better, actual songs, chants for specific teams clearly distinguishable. The crowd noise seems to better reflect the current action on screen.
Love the changing pitch, it is not a huge thing but really adds to the feeling that a match is in progress. Love how the grass kicks up when taking shots. I also love how you see players actually grab shirts too.

Referee seems fairer this time, no significant favouritism to the CPU. Free kicks seems better as well, no more driven shots being the main route of success.
The new Possession tackle is nice. The new Emotion stuff is a bit meh, I see why they wanted to add it, but it adds very little to the game, IMO.

The movement seems a little off. Like Officialsono said, it is a bit robotic and stiff.
Players do seem more responsive though, and quality dribblers are exactly that. Players like Hazard and Reus can drift past player after player, which sounds bad, but it makes the contain feature all the more useful and important. The Goal Keepers are hit and miss in the demo. They pull off some incredible saves, but then make mistakes with the most simple of situations. It also seems far to easy to go past a keeper at speed and score. This could be the new header problem from FIFA 14.

The New tactical screen is fantastic. Being able to assign more tactical commands to players is a god send, and most importantly, they seem to work too. Shooting is taking a little time to get used to, the ball has a tendency to go over the bar alot. I am sure there is a nuance to learn that will be found with more time.

The A.I actually seems decent. In the few games I have played at World Class level it seems player get less space in the third and defenders are quicker to react. At the opposite end, attacking players seem to make more intelligient runs and continue them rather than always putting on the brakes and the move breaking down.

These are early impressions though, but right now I am hugely optimistic for the full game.

Playing the PC demo, the first thing I noticed was the pitch. It might be a small thing, but it actually looks like a football pitch now rather than a perfect green carpet we had in old Fifa's. The tactic screen changes and player instructions are fantastic, and I do like the addition of the "park the bus" and "all out attack" quick-tactics you can do in-game. The CPU also get a bit more gung ho and pile people forward if they're losing towards the end of the game.

I'd agree on the movement, it feels a little... rigid? Players are more responsive and dribbling is tighter and quicker and you can actually dribble at pace now, but player movement feels a little different and weird. Perhaps I'll just get used to it.

My main worry, and right now it is only a worry, is that it Fifa 15 feels like it could be the return of ping pong passing. Long passes seem far more difficult to pull off even with the best long passers, but short passes seem extremely accurate and exploitable if you just quickly ping pong it around the pitch. But then again I'm playing against easy CPU with good teams, so I'll have to see. That, and the demo always plays quite differently from the full game.

Love the new set piece options. Using the RS to choose a player to pass too and the LS to move them/make a run at goal is awesome. Same for indirect free kicks. Fookin love some of the new stuff:bow:

Well, after 3 games I may be done with the game. I simply can't defend, and the CPU teammates are completely useless. The CPU seems smarter on the attack, so they move the ball around more and look for holes in the defense, which they will find, even on PRO. The CBs get beat by straight on runs. So, I control a CB when the play gets close, but then your other teammates are little help.

I know the CPU is trying to get me to overcommit, so I hold the back 4 together as best I can and still no luck. I still have to play around with strategy to hope that helps. I switched to a striker and watched my CPU controlled back line overcommit to 2 strikers and get beat.

Don't get me wrong, there are times when I hold my shape and the CPU doesn't get through, but eventually they are going to get in. Tactical defending seems completely broken. My players do little when I hit the button (and do even less if I don't)

On the flip side, human players move like they are in mud. CPU players give you no space. When a human gets a pass, there's a stutter and extra animation that gives the other team time to catch. I get a step on a slower CB and instantly get that little stutter step and I'm caught.

Maybe I'm just out of practice, but this feels frustrating. I used to play on world class and should not get owned in a demo on pro. Did they ramp up the difficulty or something?

Nope. I am playing on World class and it is about the same as FIFA 14.
Your defenders(A.I) sound like the tactics are too aggressive and need to be set more to contain rather than press.

How are you defending? Using tactical button? Do you use the right stick and constantly switch to chase the ball carrier, or pick a CB and sit back? I find if I do the former, my CBs chase and get beat.

I use the contain button, but unlike most folk I do not keep it held down. I use it to get me in the right position and then use LT+RT jocky to manually contain them. I usually do not even attempt to nick the ball. Eventually they will pass it backward and allows more space for you to try and get possession while having cover behind you. I will change player though if I can so that the shape is right and players are in their proper positions. You do not want you big CB defending the wing and your midget Wing back defending crosses if they get past you.
Also, do not use auto player switch, I find that will mess you up proper. Air balls only.

I was able to do that on default difficulty (semi-pro I think), but on pro and above it didn't seem to work. It seemed all my guys were too slow and too soft on marking.

I'll have to try more on pro. Maybe I just was worse on 14 than I remember (I swore I played WC). It was also 5am here when I was playing.

I always use the tele broadcast camera and it is hard to tell who is who.
