Playstation Experience Dec. 6 - 7 Official Thread

Cole's notes for those who missed the keynote:

http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/06/playstation-experience-2014-roundup/

Sony just held the keynote for its first-ever PlayStation Experience fan event, and the company didn't hold back on game previews -- it showed dozens of titles that will be hitting the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in the months ahead. Did you miss out on the whole shebang? Don't worry. We've rounded up all the games that got a showing at the Las Vegas event, ranging from blockbuster sequels like Uncharted 4 and Street Fighter V to eyebrow-raising originals like Wattam. If you're ready to start watching a ton of trailers, grab some popcorn and check out the full game list below.

Thank you, I missed it, so I was hoping for something like this. I'll come back and watch it later. Seems like a lot.

Still not sure about Bloodborne.

What stands out in a bad way are the static animations. Game looks good but it's the animatioms that look a bit last gen...shame. but what was the other big announcement that was bigger than SFV?

Ok, I watched it. Here are the games I know I'm sold on:
  • No Man's Sky. That warp scene gave a sense of the huge scope of the game/universe.
  • Uncharted 4. I didn't watch the trailer much, didn't want it spoiled.
  • What Remains of Edith Finch. I'll buy the next Giant Sparrow game.

Here are the possibles:
  • The Order. I like the cinematics, setting, and visuals. The shooting looks kind of meh, but I feel that way a lot about shooters. I'll have to wait for the reviews.
  • Grim Fandango. I like the idea of replaying these old games, but I often don't.
  • Shovel Knight. Looks kind of dumb, but it gets a lot of praise, and I think it won Indy GOTY at the Game Awards recently, so there's something I'm missing.
  • Wattam. I wasn't captivated by the trailer, but when I read that it's a collaboration involving an ex-Journey team member, I got interested.

I hate to be a debby downer cause i want U4 to look as sick as possible....but i cannot deny the simple fact that for a big part the Uncharted 4 video was.....underwhelming. Why?

THIS:

It looked nothing like that E3 video. I honestly expected during that E3 video that it would transition into gameplay there, which it didn't. But with this gameplay debut trailer i expected the face to look just as good as that, good lord the E3 video was something else. :(

I think the different time of day plays a lot in it looking different, the foliage looks pretty much the same in game as that in engine video they showed at E3, some parts of the model do look slightly lower quality like the hair but it's still better looking than anything else on either console so far IMO.

The Order looks better imo. But it looks like it mostly takes place in close quaters. But it has a real cinematic feel. And I mean almost like watching a movie.

UC4 looks like a movie as well. But a CG one. I love how the enemies feel like they actually have a little bit of personality instead of being soulless clones.

Overall some good looking games coming. Uncharted, The Order, and Bloodborne look amazing. Some other weird ass looking games as well but I'll keep an eye on them.

I think the Order stands out more because the character models are really close to the camera and we also haven't really seen as much of UC4. I think both look amazing though and at least to me are the two best looking console games I've ever seen. UC4 has more time to improve as well since it won't be out for almost a year while the Order is coming out in about 2 months.

Let the wars begin

So, still catching up on some stuff.

The Tomorrow Children - Still not sure If I like this game or not. Not really sure why they went the Dark Souls approach in regards to others being in your game. I think it might have been better with a more MMO like set up.

Until Dawn - Meh. Looks like a crappy Hollywood Teen horror flick. Really not my cup of tea.

The Order 1866 - I saw some videos giving impressions on the new demo and they were surprisingly positive. A lot of impressions on the old demo seemed to be hugely negative, but seems this one has a lot more to experience and is more akin to what you may find in the final product. Performance seems to have improved too.

Kudos to Sony for having this PS experience event. Very intelligence (though obvious) business move, especially the timing as well, during the holidays. With many potential hits in the near future, more people will be willing to part their money for a PS4 than ever, & obviously answering to critics that keep saying PS4 have no games.

There are certain a least a few games that I may considering getting.

I do have to agree with Flynn (& I do not often agreed with him) that Uncharted 4 gameplay shown is a clear visual downgrade, but I was totally expecting that. Actually it isn't a downgrade as the reveal trailer wasn't real time (& I do not mean non gameplay, because you can have real time cinematic as well), something that Flynn spotted from developers (particularly the lady that used to work for Bungie) careful choice of words.

In fact I think Dragon age, despite a cross gen game, has better lightings outdoor. The lighting feels flat in Uncharted 4. Thats the technical part.

Things could change as the game get further in development, but I would be surpise if they are satified with the current level of visual fidelity.

However, I have to say the blending between combat & platforming is sweet. I will probably picked this next holidays (or later), pending what's available then.

Thought Uncharted 4 looked glorious. The animations on drake were truly stunning. Can't wait.
Loved the verticality of the gameplay and the way the bad guys had personality too.

Don't know why people are worried about Uncharted 4. It looks superb, what game coming out in fall 2015 has shown 15 minutes of actual footage that looks that good? None. That is what impressed me the most, they had the balls and confidence to show so much of it when it is a year away. Fair play to ND, I was expecting a gameplay trailer at best. The game looks incredible, the graphics, the foliage and the levels look larger and more open allowing more variety in how you play the games. Also the level design looked fantastic. I'll be amazed if any game in Fall 2015 tops Uncharted 4.

Dragon age 3, an already released game, & cross gen too, looks better, the environment at least, & not to mention Vanishing of Eltan Carter, made by an Indie studio (but then Eltan uses UE4 :p). I am just being honest.

If they haven't overpromised (then its not unique to Naught dog), with the reveal trailer (with a misleading message; basically they use in engine but non real time), it would have been ok. We know PS4 is capable, but its not a fire breathing beast of a machine, there is no need for such stunts. But to be fair, they meant it as a target, then again you can say about Killzone reveal. I just hate misrepresentation & taking gamers as gullible.

Lets be clear, it looks good, even great, just not the same as the reveal trailer, by a wide margin.

I give credit when due, but criticise when developer when they try something funny.

Talking about credits, I do think the gameplay & IA looks sweet.

I dunno man, but Quantum Break for example looks pretty goddamm good to me too.

Yes they definitely use different models or LoD scaling between gameplay and cutscene. I hope nobody was expecting gameplay to look as good as the cutscenes.

Oh come the f*** on. That's the dumbest thing I've seen posted in this thread, maybe even on this forum.
Seriously, what's with the language?

Prove me wrong then.
Show my a screencap on Uncharted that looks better.

When it comes to animations ND and Insomniac are 2nd to none. Those two company's always have the best animations in their games.

Here is some pictures I found, ok, unfortunately not the best quality to be fair. But I did not pick the dull cave, but the better dense vegetation part.

This one does looks really good though, very dense.

At highest LOD, the face do looks good!, but the environment though good, is not extraordinary is it?

The free games from EA were cool but I was really hoping they were going to announce EA Access coming to PS4. Such BS it's not on PS4 f*** Sony on that one.

I got to say I'm not crazy on how Nate looks in uncharted hardly looks like the same guy to me.

Anyone now if Sony is doing any more announcements today or was yesterday all the ones they had to make?

Also, I actually never watched til the very end. Having seen the forest area, it pretty good actually. Does look much better than the cliff/cave area.

Still the comment from Jester is uncalled for.

Can anyone made an honest (but unpopular) comments (which is an opinion anyway) without risking to get a personal attack, or nasty reply?

Whats wrong with. "I disagree with you, here are some high dev screens to prove it..."

I think that the environments in UC4 and Dragon Age are highly stylized and are not going for a photorealistic look. So if you prefer one over the other it's certainly a subjective preference. I prefer UC4 from what I've seen but DA is a damn good looking game too.

I haven't played DA tbh.
